Hi there!

I would love to attend this year's Pinkfest. I have enjoyed the last two
Diva Las Vegas events and hope to see many of the friends I met in Las
Vegas at Pinkfest in Chicago.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Glad to have you with us.

This year will actually be Pinkfest's 10th. anniversary!

Pinkfest is much smaller than DLV but a lot of fun. Yes, you'll see some familiar faces and I'm sure you'll have a very good time.

One big suggestion (to you and all): Book your air (if you need it) and your hotel early!

Pinkfest 2011

Postby Bev » Sat Jul 23, 2011 10:58 pm

So what's the latest news on Pinkfest? Any plans made on the activities yet? Just trying to nail down vacation plans for the fall and want to get this on my schedule.

Don't be concerned, the planning for Pinkfest is far more informal than for DLV. :)

Unless something totally unforeseen occurs, we'll have things going from Wednesday evening, October 19, thru Sunday evening, October 23. Those dates are about as solid as we can get.

There are a few definite and favorite activities which will certainly be repeated this year, such as our daily Lunch With Ginger (exact locations TBD), dinner at Chicago Chop House, dinner at Winberies, Quality Social Time<tm> at Velvet Rope and some others.

We had a few new things last year which worked very well, which I know are worth repeating but may or may not sync into our schedule this year, such as Quality Social Time with the Island Girls in Blue Island (I don't know if they plan a get-together that fits into our schedule this year) and TransCinema at the Center On Halsted (likewise, I don't know if that will occur to sync with us).

I'm also sure we'll have at least a couple vendor Open House sessions, at Jannas's Place and Rachel's Wigs.

If there's anything, general or specific, that you want to do, just say so. :)

Hello Pinkfest ladies! Can't wait to see everyone at Pinkfest in Chicago.

We are opening a new Studio in Forest Park, not far from old location.
Very cozy and definitely will have lots of snacks or just terrific
bargains on everything!!! xoxoxo Janna and staff.

Island Girls has officially disbanded, although there is usually a bunch
who still gets together at Club Krave on Wednesday nights.

Donna Greer and others decided to give it up. But Club Krave is a fun
and friendly place.

TransCinema is the 4th Saturday of every month at the Center on Halsted
October 22 this year. A trans oriented film is shown with free
refreshments and a discussion to follow. Last year we had a full house
and went to Big Chicks afterward. Some went to IHOP down the street.

I think it would be fun to plan makeovers at a classroom at the Center
on Halsted and have lunch there. Boys Town is a great neighborhood to
explore for shopping and some terrific restaurants and night clubs in
the evening. The Center always has something going on through June
LaTrobe's hardwork.

Hi Annie,

FYI ... the island girls group is now permanantly defunct!

It was just after they had their anniversay party that the island girls
website and their yahoo group werer deleted and you can access them ant
more.

There was no explaination or reason but that group as you knew it no
longer exists and you can consider it to not be an otion for this years
Pinkfest.

Hi,

As always, it would be our pleasure to be a "stop" for Pinkfest this
year.

During your time period we will have;

Thursday, 10/20, "T Out" Mic. An open mic, for both musical and spoken
performances. It is intended to be a safe and encouraging environment
for members of the broad Trans community, along with their Significant
others, family members, friends and allies. It is the most diverse group
at the center.

Saturday, 10/22nd, TransCinema. Also a totally "open" event, featuring
a Trans related film, followed by a discussion. Again, this year, if
your group has a film they would like screened, please do let me know.

Hopefully, this year, I will be able to attend at least one of your
other events.

All the best,

June

That's too bad! :( Island Girls was a friendly group.

If there's still a Wednesday crowd, I wouldn't mind going down there. I enjoyed Krave.

October 22 will definitely work for us.

I like the idea of getting Janna involved in something like this. She would probably get better exposure this way and we could make an afternoon/evening out of it, segueing into TransCinema.

I also enjoyed Big Chicks. Seemed more laid-back and down to earth than many of the Boystown bars.

I do remember, however, that the kitchen closed surprisingly early for a Saturday night. I remember somebody (Laura) didn't get their food order in.
