I know we have one particular individual who is going to be
passing these out.

However, if anyone else would like to print some and give to
anyone else who wants to get in on this, here are the images.

The full pdf is on line here:

http://www.pinkmyst.com/pinkfest/misc/pf10c.pdf

A web-size view of the flyer is here:

http://www.pinkmyst.com/pinkfest/misc/pf10w.jpg

A full-size view in .jpg format is here:

http://www.pinkmyst.com/pinkfest/misc/pf10lr.jpg

The full size images are set for a "full bleed" on a standard
8.5x11 sheet.

Please feel free to print out and pass out. :)

Screaming Queens - October 24

On Sunday, Oct 24 at 2:30pm, there will be a screening of a documentary
"Screaming Queens" in Oak Park, IL. It is about the San Francisco riot
in the tenderloin district three years before Stonewall. It is hosted
by Illinois Gender Advocates and the Howard Brown Transgender Services
showing at the Oak Park Public Library at 834 Lake Street- just down the
street from Cafe Winberies.

Following the movie, author, director, and transgender activist Susan
Stryker will be speaking. The Oak Park public library has one of the
oldest and largest transgender collections in Illinois.

It has been my pleasure to see this film several times, I actually
own a copy.

It provides some very interesting insights in to the world in the
mid-60's.

I will be sure to be there, to hear the film maker speak as well.

It would be an interesting counter-point to the lighter, yet also
insightful film, screening at Center on Halsted, the night before.

June

Thanks June and Laura. I plan to be there.

Let's put this on the schedule if there are no objections.

And I plan on being there too. :)

The movie is free and open to the public. I think it is a great event
and plan to be there. A representative from PFLAG distributed fliers
at the IGA meeting last night and I let everyone there know about
Pinkfest.

Here is a link to all the film showings at the Oak Park Public Library.
They have a whole GLBT series:

By the way, it looks like Wednesday, Oct 20th, is the Island Girls
Halloween Party at Club Krave in Blue Island.

The Island Girls know how to throw a party...

Should be fun!

Just an FYI to all who plan on being here the week of 10/18, Sidetracks
a North Halsted Street bar and friend to our community is hosting Night
of 100 Drag Queens on Tuesday 10/19 and Wednesday 10.20. Its so large
that it takes two nights to run. The Shows start at 8:00 PM and there is
a $20 cover but it is a very entertaining event if any one has any
interest. You can go to their web site for more information.

Yes, SideTrack is a great, fun and totally welcoming and supportive bar.
It is quite unique, in that it is a video bar, most nights.

It's owner, Art Johnson is a founder of Equality Illinois. The event you
speak about is actually a fund-raiser for Equality Illinois, and all of
the $20 goes to that organization.

While that other national organization was happy to throw us under the
bus,Equality Illinois has always insisted on full inclusion, which is
why "Gender Identity and Expression" is included in the state, county
and city civil rigths laws.

While many of the performers are professionals, most are folks who only
do drag occasionally. It is a really fun evening.

We've been to SideTrack a lot in earlier PF years. For those who might
remember, it is where:

- the insult comic/piano player was

- where Honey West performed on Sundays (not an official PF event, but some
girls still in town went)

- the place with the really long bar down one side

- has that area in the back where you can actually talk, which is why so
many liked it

- had the "French patio" open doors to the streets when the weather was nice

There are a lot of SideTrack pictures from PF 2003 and 2004. See the bottom
of the pages at http://www.geekbabe.com/annie/pinkfest/pink03/ and
http://www.geekbabe.com/annie/pinkfest/pink04/

I've visited several times on non-PF occasions, though not in a couple of
years. Still like it.

P.S. to Annie: I think you may have your captions switched for 2004. IIRC,
the brick wall background (seen behind the singer and piano player in front
of the pride flag, mis-labeled as Gentry) is SideTrack and the wood panel
walls (also including where we are by the exit sign) is Gentry on Halstead,
so some pix are also co-mingled. Of course, that was a few years ago, so
alcohol may have muddled my memories. :-)

Thanks,

Tina Lake
