> Please tell us more about the Grape Street Piano Bar.
Well, I'm not Ginger, :) but I've been there and I'll tell you
what I know.
It's on Ontario, between St. Clair and Fairbanks, north side
of the street.
On the night I was there, I would call it more of a bar-bar
than a piano bar, but I do understand they have the piano
player on the weekends.
It's definitely in the "mainstream" category, as opposed to
"alternative" or gay bar. I would describe it as TG-oblivious.
Friendly staff, friendly regular and occasional crowd, and
reasonably-priced drinks.
Ginger discovered this a while back, and last year we
wandered over there after visiting an "alternative" bar,
the Second Story Lounge, in the same area. The Second
Story was recommended to me as a place which had absorbed
some of the regular crowd of the now-closed Gentry On
State. The problem is that it kept its own regular gang
plus absorbing some of the Gentry crowd, and was very
crowded to the point that we could not find seats, and
the crowd was obviously increasing at the time, rather
than simply churning.
Despite being treated to a round of drinks by one of the
Second Story regulars, we decided to wander on and Ginger
suggested the Grape Street.
AFAIK it has no connection to the infamous Grape Street
in El-Lay. :)
