Let's hear your interest for a Thursday night bar

>plentiful on Thursday night. The admission charge is $10 with a two

I don't have a driving need to do Baton, but if that's what the
gang wants to do, I'm in. :)

This would be fine with me.

This is fine with me, with some caveats. It's very mainstream and
may be uncomfortable for newbees. They do enforce a "business
casual at minimum" dress code and have mandatory coat check. They
did not make me check my light jacket, but did make me check my
coat on another occasion.

>I was trying to find something different. Let's hear it for your

I keep hearing rumblings about some kind of "upstairs gay bar" in
the area which has absorbed some of the Gentry business. I can
look into that was well. Any Pinkfesters know what place I'm
talking about?

This has to be the place, the Second Story Bar:

http://www.centerstagechicago.com/bars/second-story.html

Anybody know anything about this? It was described to me
as "very low key" and such.

Ginger, feel like checking this one out? :)

Your intelligence is very good. The Second Story Bar is located at 157 E
Ohio St # 2 Chicago, IL 60611-3107, 312-923-9536. I just called the bar
and the person I spoke with told me they were a mainstream gay bar, not
a leather bar or some other place that might be questionable for us. It
seems to me that it's the kind of place where everyone would feel
comfortable regardless of their experience. He also told me they were
the only uptown gay bar. I have not seen any overwhelming enthusiasm for
the Baton Show Bar and I'm ready to go with the Second Story Bar for
Thursday evening in the final schedule to be put out this evening unless
I hear a lot of support for something else!

Here is the URL for a map with its location:

>Your intelligence is very good.

Thanks! {blush} :).

I'm trying to remember exactly when/where I first heard of
it. I know at 1000 Stars (Omaha) the topic of Chicago came
up and I mentioned that Gentry had closed. One of the others
mentioned a nearby place had absorbed some of the regulars.

I recall it being mentioned at DLV as well, and what I mostly
remember about it was "upstairs", which could have been my
fuzzy memory of somebody saying "Second Story" or something.

Anyway, this morning I went to the "Virtual El" on Centerstage,
checked bars in the vicinity of Grand, and there it was very
obviously, "Second Story Bar"! :)

>It seems to me that it's the kind of place where everyone

I haven't sensed any anti-gay-bar bias (MEOW! {big snotty
grin}) at Pinkfest. :) I think it will be comfortable to
both those just coming out and those who have lots of
public exposure. :)

Thanks again to Ginger for doing the follow-up on this! :)

I have been there once. It's somewhat of a dive but safe to go to. Have
you thought of redhead piano bar? I've been there and it seems safe.

Also, for those who don't do the theatre on Saturday night, you can do
the Kit Kat Lounge
