hmm one nun leading a whole group
of dlv attendees dressed in girl school
uniforms, entering the RHPS or
Beauty Bar. A chance to turn heads
on purpose.

Uniform is simple enough, a pleated
skirt, dress shirt tucked under the
skirt, std tie or bow tie, dinner jacket,
tube socks and sneakers. Height of the
skirt would be negotiable with the Nun
in charge holding the paddle.

When playing any type of guitar, I found having nails on the
right hand was better than using a pick, both for single notes
or struming with the fingers instead of moving the hand up and
down. The left hand nails was always cut short to reduce the
sliding noise on the metal strings and to get a good feel on
pressing the string to the fret. Sometimes if I had nails, the
length would prevent me from pressing down properly resulting
in a weaker press and I'd end up with a odd or wrong note.
I ended up getting callouses on my left fingers from pressing the
metal strings on folk guitars. The nylon ones on the classical
is much easier on the fingers, but harder when bridging the
strings.

Some other of my friends used to grow one nail long but that
was for snuff or that other white powder.

Same with the violin, where playing piccato (sp) or plucking the
string, the nail gave a better sound than using the tip of the
finger (sometimes it sounded more like a 'thump') than the
note. so having nails on the right had comes in handy.

Thank you for the nice invitation!

Tempting, would like to, and would also need
to practice a bit, but I also feel I don't think I
am good enough to perform a gig on stage.
It would only be instrumental, my voice sucks...
which is why I play instruments. Looking
like a female and attempting to sing, which
would be in a male voice doesn't go over very
well in my head either.

But the bottom line is that I cannot this year.
The main reason is unfortunately the dates
for DLV wasn't good for me, so I won't be
able to attend this year. I was just commenting
on nails while playing those instruments. One
can have nails and play, and it helps

Going femme for me for the complete image
requires having matching colored nails on both
hands and this cannot exist if playing as in having
one hand with short colored nails and the
other with longer nails. I've tried it and its very
noticeable if anyone was looking at the hands.

A few women guitarist have long nails on
both hands and can play, but I don't know
how they do it and I haven't been able to do
it either. The feel and touch is different.
Other women guitarist, just keep their nails
very very short like men.

The shape and cut of the nails on the right
hand for playing is a bit of a personal choice
and the shape for me is different for playing
than the shape for looks.

Having a clear or matte clear hard coat
strengthens the nail while playing, which is
a good thing, and I've done that to prevent
the nail from cracking while playing, but if
colored, certain types of strings will scratch
up any painted nails, esp around the edges.

I see you have the sound systems, amps,
mics and I hope music stands. Another issue
for me would be the cost of extra luggage to
bring the instruments and the other needed
things like music sheets that go with it.

My first time out in public, the girl I was with took me to a lesbian
bar and we sang Karaoke. She had a beautiful voice, but would
only sing in her male voice. She got a standing ovation even
though she was dressed.

Male voice is fine. My normal singing voice range is pretty close to Catherine Ringer's, so I do a lot of her stuff, but I often do male voices, everything from Led Zeppelin to the Reverend Al Sharpton.

Some people find it a bit disturbing...
