Only 20 days left, gang!

Folies Bergere tickets:

Can we talk ...

You have until next Sunday, that's four days, to get your order in
for the Folies Bergere tickets.

Yes, I know, it's a hoop to jump thru, but this is well worth it.

Sunday evening of DLV will be something very special. Folies is the
longest running show in Las Vegas. It's an elegant and spectacular
production.

Following the show, we will have a private limousine tour of the Strip
and other high-profile areas.

Taking a look at registrations, the majority of you have indicated you
will be in town Sunday evening.

If you're thinking you're not ready for this type of public exposure
yet, you're most welcome to join us in boymode. This will be very
enjoyable from either side of the fence. :)

Don't get left out, gang. This is the last call for this.

>As sponsor of the Sunday evening show (the Folies Bergere at the
>Tropicana), I will get a group of adjacent seats for those who want to
>sit together. It's a fun show, very elegant, and we'll have a great
>time.

>I'm purchasing a small number of tickets in advance, and re-selling them
>at cost to DLV girls, for those who want to be in the group seating. I
>require pre-payment by money order (no cash, no checks).

>I'm now accepting reservations and will continue to do so until April
>15. I'll use my credit card to pre-pay for tickets that have been
>reserved via money order.

>Tickets for the the booth seats (which are the better seats) are $62.45
>each, plus tax (drinks not included, no minimum drink requirement).
>Since tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangable, I won't be able to
>give a refund to anybody who cancels. The Tropicana will have my credit
>card number, so I'll get charged whether you show up or not.

>I'll pick up the block of tickets when I arrive in town, and you can get
>your ticket(s) from me at any main DLV event, starting that Thursday
>night.

>I do want everybody to get their tickets from me by Saturday night. I
>don't want to be handling tickets at the last minute on Sunday night.

>If you have any questions about the procedure, direct them to the list
>via Annie, or write me at my e-mail address (tinatdre@swbell.net), or
>call me on my cell (512-656-3061).

>To purchase a ticket, you will need to send a money order for $62.45
>(don't worry about the tax, I'll cover that) to:

>Timothy Luke
>P.O. Box 82416
>Austin, TX 78708-2416

>Yes, for those who care, Timothy Luke is my boy name. Most types of
>money orders require you to put someone's name on them when you purchase
>them, so use my boy name. I recommend reserving early, so that I have
>time to resolve any problems with your money order.

>Thanks,

Limo Tour Details:

Tina writes:

>The limo tour of the Strip will leave the front entrance of the

>The stretch limo (max capacity: 8) and driver will be provided by Bell
>Trans, a limo company recommended by the Tropicana Hotel. Tour is 3
>hours long, tickets are $15. The procedure is that you buy your tickets

>want to do this. Your participation is not guaranteed until you

>me as early as possible during DLV before the limo fills up. DON'T MAIL
>ME YOUR PAYMENT. THIS IS A DIFFERENT PROCEDURE THAN THE ONE WE ARE
>USING FOR THE FOLIES SHOW TICKETS.

>I'll be there for the first night (Wednesday at Las Vegas Lounge), and
>at all major events for all of DLV, so finding me to pay for tickets
>should be easy. Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis.
>The question has come up: What to do about people who won't be arriving
>until Saturday? If the limo sells out early, and there is sufficient
>overflow interest, we can always make arrangements for a second limo.
>Obviously, for that to occur, I have to have sufficient payments up
>front on Saturday. Not a perfect solution, but there have always been
>extra perks for people who come for all of DLV.

>Note that the limo tour is a separate activity from the Folies show, and
>each is paid for separately. You don't have to go to the show to be
>part of the limo tour group, or vice versa.

>Please write or post an item to the newsletter if any questions.

I'm sure everybody will join me in giving thanks and a big hug to Tina
for arranging this and the Folies show.

{in unison} Thanks, Tina

Making contact in Las Vegas:

Just to be sure we don't have anything slipping off the plate here, in a
thread "on another network" there was some concern about making contact
with the group when arriving in Las Vegas.

Although explicit contact instructions will be sent out in the big
mailing toward the end of the month, here's a Readers Digest summary
of what the story is.

Absolute best way to make contact with the group is to simply show up at
one of the scheduled functions. Yes, one of us will then mark a little
check by your name on a list. We will send out a very detailed schedule
with specific instruction on how to get to each activity, and how to
find the group when you arrive. We'll have a map on the web, with major
event locations noted.

If you need to get in contact with the group before your first activity,
or if you run into trouble finding the location and the group, there
will be not one, but three (3 - count 'em) cell phone numbers you can
use to speak to a live body. No voice mail, no ACD {grin}, just a live
human (Big Sister type) on each one. :) I'll also publish my 1-800
pager number.

Makeup and fashion critiques:

>Reading all of the comments I see that many girls are concerned about
>their makeup, and how well they do their own faces. Maybe it would be
>possible to have some "pre-DLV big sisters" who would volunteer to give
>advice now to some of these girls.

Yes, that might be a good idea. Would anybody out there want to take
advantage of an honest critique?

>A volunteer would have to agree to let you post her e-mail address, and
>then those that want advice could send a photo to the big sister for
>advice.

Here are some addresses. Send .jpg or .gif file or web url to:

Annie: annie@annie.net
Tina: tinatdre@swbell.net

State you want an honest critique of makeup and/or outfit.

Please do not send binary attachments to the mailing list (dlv@geekbabe.com)
as the list processor will badly mangle them.

>Caveat emptor-- if you ask for advice do not have thin skin.

Very true, ladies, if you do this, please do so with the intent of not
getting infinite strokes and fuzzies for how nice you look, but with the
intent of smoothing over any rough spots.

>You make think you look stunning with electric blue eye shadow caked
>on, but your big sister may have another idea for you.

Well, ya gotta consider time place and circumstance. If you're going to
a 70's retro party, or to RHPS, it might be appropriate. :)

Late nite gambling:

Both Sahara and Imperial Palace are heavily slot oriented, but they do
have good size pit areas. They are not nearly as spacious as Caesars or
even Stardust. I noticed Sahara was gettting kinda crowded in the pit
area one night (Friday?) during DLV2K.

I agree with that.

>Personally, I actually don't like the idea.

Ok, one check in the "no way" column. :)

I'll be getting in on Tuesday as well. I'm getting quite a do-it list
for Tuesday evening, but I'll think about dropping by if I'm still
awake.

Well, I guess I should probably refer to the game as "21" or "Blackjack"
for the people with dirty minds. :)

I guess I could also tweak Phil's lyrics to "... hate to throw the game"
or something less suggestive. :)

>Personally, I

Yes, you can actually come out ahead for very skilled VP (that's Video
Poker) play. :)
