Hey my friend. After reading all the e-mails back and forth, you've
peaked my interest. Is it too late to sign and book hotels/airlines?

No, it's not too late. We are, however, 3 days away from that 90 day
mark, and historically that's been when prices start to escalate.

If you want to attend DLV, here's what you will need to do:

First and most important, read the web site http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/
and be very sure you know exactly what DLV is. There are still some very
common misunderstandings. This ain't your daddy's Texas T! :) Be sure to
read the FAQ.

Join the mailing list if you're not on it. Send a brief e-mail to
dlv@geekbabe.com and say you want to join the list. This will give
you information on how to register and details on what's going on.

A good step by step guide to exactly what you will need to do is:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/roadmap.html

If you have any specific questions or concerns, you can ask them here.

Am entering my fifties. Keeping weight off is almost no longer
an option. The body is going to soften (a real dilemma because
I am entering HRT and softening is the point) . And I have to
eat and exercise accordingly. I find Pilates to favor my old
arthritic bones.

Point is, if I want pretty and feminine clothing that fits my
ever expanding frame and butt, I go to Lane Bryant. fashionable,
built with the larger woman in mind and pretty. It costs a few
more bucks than Wally World, but I feel better about shopping
there, I have my very own personal sales associate who finds
me the prettiest outfits and helps me to dress so I fit in even
though sometimes I DO feel like a boy in a dress (although I
am well aware I am all girl under this masculine skin).

Hope this helps honey. I know there are days no matter HOW hard
I try it almost embarrasses me to go out in public because no
matter what I do I feel fat, old and ugly. Even though I know
that is doubts and fears nagging at me and trying to undermine
my confidence. Some days I simply stare in the mirror and repeat
how beautiful and intelligent I am until I start believing my
own hype.

Hang in there and non illigitimi carborundum !

Hi Girls,

I do hope that you all are getting ready for the Holiday Season. I
attending DLV about seven years ago and had a blast! I really would like
to return but in the past few years I have put on this weight and now it
makes me look like a guy in a dress. I just hate it. What do you girls
do to keep that fem figure? I walks four miles a day, I have stopped
eating meats, I take the stairs at work now but it just doesnt seem to
help. Can any one give me any ideas or help? I want to go back to DLV
but I want to have that girlish figure I use to have, HELP!

I might remind you -- and this is something that is often
forgotten or overlooked -- that women (both TG and GG) come
in all shapes and sizes, including yours!

Throughout our history, two of our most "believable" attendees
were far from svelte in stature, but were unquestionably
feminine and blended very well in mainstream public.

I think the key to both of their presentations was that they
had the correct attitude and did not try such things as to
attempt to come off as 20 year old hotties.

>What do you girls do to keep that fem figure?

I admit that I do not have, and probably will not have the
figure I had when I was in my 20s. :( I've just accepted
it. :( I'm not nearly as active as I was years ago, I know
my metabolism has slowed, and yes, I know I don't really
eat right, particularly at work.

#include <why_programmers_dont_eat_quiche.h>

I mean, I don't think I'm really out of shape, but I know
I've gained quite a bit over the past 25 years or so. I do
exercise off and on, but I've never really felt the need to
reduce. I guess I'm lazy. :(

>I walks four miles a day, I have stopped eating meats, I
>take the stairs at work now but it just doesnt seem to

I don't think there is a magic bullet, but I'm sure
there are quite a few things that can help. In order to
lose weight, you have to expend more calories than you
take in. Eating less and exercising more are the things
most often prescribed for this.

About the only things I can suggest, if you think that
the weight has "stuck", is to book an appointment with
a reputable physician who specializes in nutrition and
weight issues. (Watch out! There are a lot of total
quacks out there in that field!) In this day and age
there are some medications which can help by suppressing
appetite and blocking fats.

Another thing is peer support. We did have a "Biggest
Loser" thing going on a couple of years ago and one of
our regulars did achieve a very remarkable loss of
weight between DLVs. :)

Hope this helps. :)

Hi Bobbie!

I think of the song by Sean Na'Auao: "Fish and Poi, I'm a big boy":

Chorus:

" I like my fish and poi, I'm a big boy"
" Lomi Salmon, Pipikaula, Extra Large Lilikoi"
" Squid or chicken luau, don't forget the lau lau"
" Beef or tripe stew, just to name a few, oh yeah!"

"... Its the Hawaiian in me!"

an all da kines of poki, roast chicken, steaks, patist, pateles,
teriyaki and misoyaki whatevers, rice, mac salad,
plate lunches, lunch wagons, L&L, Zippy's, Shige's,
19th Puka, Flamingos, Like Like, Boot's and Kemo,
Pake's, Roys, Alan Wongs, Sam Choy's, Food Courts,
Macaroni's, Assagios, Mateo's, Elana's, Onos, and
theater food..etc

First be realistic - look at your body the way it is now
and accept it the way it is.

It can be better, but that takes work. What you need is
something that will work now with the figure you have.
Once one tackles how one really is, then it helps give
one better confidence.

Once the exercise kicks in and one loses the love handles,
then one can re-assess what one wears and change.

After accessing how you look, go to Ala Moana, esp
now with all the crazzzyyy shopping going on down there.
Sit down on the mall level and look for women your
body shape. See what makes them look femme, and
take notes on what they are wearing. Copy or get
the clothing that makes them look the most femme.
It may also be available at a used cheaper price at
Savers.

Dresses, depending on the pattern, A-Line or Empire
(baby doll) patterns can make one look fat if there
there is even a slight beer belly and magnify the
effect of a guy in a dress. I see most of the stuff
in my size like wearing a bag. The fashionable stuff
is between size 8 and 15. Not 16 and above.
Short sleeve dresses and spaghetti string straps that show
the male shoulders and arms magnify masculine
shoulders and arms. Those dresses are body formed,
and anything other than a nice figure will look like a
pregnant woman with a belly, or a guy in a dress.

One needs to look for Princess pattern dress style cuts
with three quarter or full long sleeves that give a flow to
the body, creating by the cut pattern a fake femme curve,
and covers the masculine shoulders, and arms. The princess
cut does this by using bell shaped curves in the material
pattern.

Dresses are the hardest to hide a male body. Male body
parts tend to stick out more visible, esp with body formed
dresses. One size larger may be better in creating the body flow,
but it still doesn't hide if one has a protruding belly. But
at the same time help reduce the look like a guy in a dress.
So any dresses that are fit closely to the body should be
avoided. Patterns also help break it up. Avoid large flowers,
horizontal and vertical stripes, for those makes one look fatter.
Find more calico type patterns with curves to it.

You can wear body shaping foam, esp for the butt and lower
thighs. but the dress has to be flowing and not clinging, or the fake
stuff will show as bulges. Body forming underwear also tends to bulge
fat around the outer edges, and if any type of clothes is close
to the skin, the bulges will show.

A much better way to go is wearing coordinates, separate tops and
bottoms, long sleeve, long skirts, and pants give better variety than
dresses, and the many combination of items gives a better fit
still using the princess style and can still be very femme. The
separates cannot be spandex or anything that clings
on the skin, magnifying the bulges all over your body.

Look at the local ggs .... almost all wear jeans!

I've seen some western 'cow-girl' outfits, which are really close
to western 'cow-boy' outfits...the difference is how the overall
flow is more femme, the princess cut vest, giving a fake curve
of the body, bigger hips and butt, boobs, and high heel boots.

The idea is to create a flow affect in everything you wear,
where even though one is big, it gives a illusion that you
are smaller and a femme body shape curve. Darker matte
earth colors will also help decrease the body size too.
White, bright colors makes one look bigger. You only want
to wear bright where you want to make it look bigger.
Males have smaller butts, so pants or skirts in lighter color can
help make one's butt and legslook bigger. The bad side to
bright colors is it attracts the eyes and the focus of others.

One doesn't always have to be in a dress. Separates can
give the illusion of wearing a dress, and allows more
flexibility in what to wear.

LV is very casual, and separates made from knits is the
easiest to travel with. Most ggs in LV dress like this, and
expects to see it in other ggs in LV also to dress.

Wearing similar style clothing that is commonly seen is a form
of acceptance also, and a way of blending in. Wear something
out of the ordinary, and you are a red flag to any gg or anyone.

Let me know if you have questions!

Bobbie, this is your sister-in-law. Sometimes nature gets the upper
hand. You are a natural big-boned fem, beautiful inside and out. And
that is all that matters. It's what's inside. You have other attributes
that many of us would love to have. Your hair for example. Accentuate
the positive and don't focus so much on the other stuff. Just keep
acting like a lady and you'll do just fine. Love ya'.... Rosada.

Hi Bobbie,

You really have to do something radical, get the weight off and them
change your life to keep it off, it's a bear. I did a medically
supervised liquid protein diet (Optifast), its offered all over. I
highly recommend it. I lost 85 lbs in 13-14 weeks and have pretty much
kept it off. The problem isn't just Meat, often you substitute higher
fat protein sources for meat when you stop doing meat. You need to
start tracking your input and output and get the net excess to reduce
significantly to start the burning of fat and get started. The walking
and climbing stairs is great because the fitness will help keep it off.

A really good web site is www.sparkpeople.com, you can easily track your
progress and calorie intake. Be honest with yourself and get committed,
you'll look and feel 100% better.

Love ya,

Gina
