Where to Stay during DLV2015

I am seeing price deals off the strip. It may be something to consider
for those on a fixed budget. I have stayed off strip, and while not as
convenient as center strip, it really wasn't all that much of an
impediment. Parking can be a bit of a PITA, but otherwise it was fine.

If anyone is interested the Royal Resort (I own a week there) has a rack
rate of $89 per night and to my knowledge do not charge a resort fee.
They are on Convention Center Dr about 1 block off the strip. The web
site is also showing discounts for reservation of 25 and 30 %, I have
stayed there many times and the rooms are nice. Most have a super king
and a queen Murphy Bed, small refer, microwave, coffee maker and
iron/ironing board. I will be there the week prior to DLV and I have
obligations that have me in San Francisco the week of DLV. If anybody is
there early (I will be there through the 20th maybe we can meet for
lunch.

When I first started going to LV in the early 90's I stayed at the cheap places. First because I look at the room as just a place to sleep and change clothes. I don't go to LV to spend time in my room. I do like to have a casino close by though.
I have stayed at Circus Circus (twice), The Royal (twice), the Debby Reynald (no longer there), Riviera, MGM, NYNY, Casino Royale (twice) which in right by Harrah's and has real easy parking with motel style rooms, The Boardwalk (twice) no longer there. There was also a cheap hotel behind Bally's across from Ellis Island that I stay at once as well as a Motel 6 in that same area. These were a one block walk to the strip so very convenient. During DLV I have stayed at the 'main' hotels: Sahara, Imperial Palace, and Harrah's. I like to be where the action is.
What I have found is that the nicer the place the less hassles I encounter; from staff as well as the level of people staying there.
I am leaning right now on Flamingo, but that might change as we get closer to March. I can get decent rates when I group the hotel with airline tickets, but still higher then in year's past. I am looking at about $500 for the 7 nights there. including resort fees.
Only time will tell. But it's fun to plan.

The Nugget might be a bit pricey compared to the other Downtowners but it is a nice place to stay and if more than a few girls stayed on Fremont St then car pooling to and from DLV events would likely save all involved a few $$ here and there.
The Four Queens, The Plaza, Binions Horseshoe and The Fremont Hotel are other possibilities too and a shade cheaper than The nugget.
For those who have never stayed downtown LV I can highly recommend it as fun place to stay. ( 20 minutes drive from Caesars corner @ Strip and Flamingo Rd ).

Back in the very early 2000's when I was very new to going out, I wanted to stay somewhere cheaper and a bit easier for a brand new T girl to adapt to her new surroundings so I researched hotels and came up with The Palace Station which is only 5 -10 minutes drive from Almost everything DLV .
I had heard that some of our girls had stayed there before and quite liked it so I booked one of their low end rooms which turned out to be a motel styled room. The building was also attached to the main Casino and had easy access from the motel room building to main streets and transportation. It was not the greatest room I ever stayed in but was clean, My car could be parked right outside my window and access to parking was down 1 flight of stairs and Poof, I was outside in the Vegas sunshine. I am not recommending this for a DLV experience but it was an ok stay and very reasonably priced. Most of the girls I talked to were offered a free tower room upgrade which apparently was the norm and so was I but I declined because at the time I was very new and a bit scared of elevators. Ok ( A Lot scared! ) **Wink**. So The Palace Station might be an decent option for some as long as they have a car to get around in.

Another choice could be Hooters on Tropicana Ave . I stayed there once when it was called The San Remo. It is nicely located and is tops = 5 minutes walk Even in heels from The Tropicana Casino and The MGM Grand corner.
Also one of our ladies who preferred to be away from Gambling and smoke free once stayed at **The Motel 6** just East of Hooters on Tropicana ave, ( As of now That is $30 a night or so and no resort fees! .*Nudge Nudge*.

I know that most would prefer a Strip Casino atmosphere and their proximity to all things Vegas but if the prices + Resort Fees get outlandish towards March then these are a few other options.
I think Hooters might be a fun stay too....

A very good research tool is **Vegas.com** This is a reliable web site where All Things Vegas can be researched inside one single web site so you will not have to flit between hotels etc'....IE:-- Less confusion. Another good resource is Anthony Curtis **Las Vegas Advisor** It is the same sort of thing as Vegas.com but sells a very useful coupon book with heaps of deals on shows, hotels. Side trips and 50% off meals and buffets. I can recommend this as I have been using it for many years. The 50% off dining is sometimes only meant for a 2 for one deal but often there are a few coupons which plainly state 50% off single or 2 for 1. ( The Coupon book is $39 postage paid in US and Canada ) *The best kept secret in town is their Palms 50% off coupon. Read it you'll like it!
Once you have used a single coupon for a show or high end meal the $39 has been paid for so everything after that is a bonus.

I have stayed at the Palace Station the last few times in Vegas and
cabbed to the strip. It's easy to get in and out of and has great
security in the parking lot.

I also stayed in Vdara which was awesome! But a bit pricey.....

About Hooters Hotel & Casino, a friend of mine with whom I attended my
first two DLV's wanted to go there. I went along because this is
something that she really wanted to do but it didn't hurt that playoff
hockey was happening. We ate there and were treated very well by the
staff. However, a year later another friend and I went there to explore
the casino and we really felt as if we were in a fishbowl. All I can
chalk that up to is that you have to consider the crowd that "Hooters"
is likely to attract. I have never felt this fishbowl effect in any
other casino.

Not that I could ever see it happening but I'd have to lodge a pretty
strong recommendation against Hooters should it ever be considered for
our recommended hotel list.

I tend to agree that there are much better hotel choices for DLV than Hooters.

We had a lot of experience (both good and bad) with the property when it was the San Remo years ago.

I've been there only once since the transition to the Hooters brand. I just popped in once to see what it was like and didn't see any reason to return. My first impression was that there were a whole bunch of 20-30-ish guys there looking around and wondering where all of the chicks are.

Reports on the various LV boards are mixed.

I guess I will have to actually say it next time.

I never expected Hooters to be a suggested hotel... Jeez Loosen up girls! Hooters would Never be a good suggestion for a stay at DLV even if the girls were full timers.

Usually I stay at the quad (imperial palace). I love that their luv tubs have massive cheesy mirrors everywhere for when I am getting ready. Perfect for selfies . I never thought the elevators were that bad (mirrors there too).

I have also stayed as stardust (gone), Luxor (too far south), Paris (love it but $$$), balleys (almost Paris) and planet hollywood (ok but during construction). On my vegas honeymoon we stayed at the Hard rock which is convenient on paradise blvd and has nice modern rooms. Our experience was biased because they gave us a free upgrade to their deluxe HRH tower.

This might be the year I finally stay downtown at Freemont st. Right now you could get 6 nights + flight from LA for $200-300 as a vacation bundle on expedia. Only drawback is that it is nonrefundable. I will be renting a car again but it would be great to have a coordinated group downtown so we could car pool or meet up for spontaneous late night trips to Denny's. Could we have a official DLV recommendation downtown as our budget option? what would it be? I am still looking at the flamingo, hard rock, and quad which are in the $600-700 range. the Question is whether I want to pay an extra $300+ to be close to the strip.
