Newcomer reception (was: I am glad everyone had fun)

I for one would be interested in something like that. I would love to
get with my spouse instead of just around the house. I dress all the
time at home and have even been out in the car with my spouse driving.
Was scary but fun of you know what I mean .

We have these at Diva Las Vegas and we appear to be converging on a format that works.

We always have them in very "safe" locations. First few were in a private home or suite, lately we've been doing it in a very discreet bar in an off-Strip TG-friendly hotel.

I'm sure we could do something like this at Pinkfest next year if there's the demand for it.

At DLV, such a thing serves several needs. First it's a "safe" place for a first-time outing. It's away from the hardcore mainstream scene. Second, it gives those who are new to the event and don't know anyone else a low-key opportunity to get acquainted with some of the others. It's also useful for those who are experienced in going out but have never attended DLV. Many newcomers are very surprised that we aren't simply a clone of the other major TG events and it gives new attendees a chance to ask questions and get a good idea of what is to come.

I think it's a fantastic idea to introduce new attendees to the
environment, and allow them to meet others in a non-threatening way
which also offers some assuredness of support.

Bobbi,

There are other options for anyone scared to go out. Chi Chapter is a
Chicago area transgender support group that has monthly meetings and
parties in a private area of an hotel. We have a private entrance,
changing rooms and our own washrooms. Our next big event is our holiday
party, Puttin' on the Ritz, on November 16th at the Double Tree Hotel in
Oak Brook. This is a lot of fun whether it is your first time out or if
you go out regularly.

For more info on Chi Chapter, go to http://chi-chapter.org/

Pinkfest is a lot of fun but it is mainly for girls that are not afraid
of going out in public. It is also just once a year.

For what it's worth

My wife died two years ago July

I have been I. The closet for 45 years

The week after her death I found a website for Chi Chapter

Elana helped me become comfortable. I went very simple dressed but was
accepted . It was a confidence builder. In August I went swimming in a
girls swimsuit at a TG picnic. The following week I played golf in a
skirt thanks to Chicago Gender soc

Subsequently I have meet up with various ladies through chicAgo t girls
yahoo group

I have been all over the USA

Chicago is one of the most accepting cities for TG community

Take small steps hold your head high and grow

Let me know if I can be of help

Listen to Elana she is a great guide and will help you be the lady of
your dreams

For your information chi chapter welcomes spouses
