So? Where did you find the best drink prices?

With all of this talk about a few places gouging for drinks, let's do a quick run-down of places where you noticed reasonable drink prices.

For this trip I drank mostly either domestic beer or soda. I had maybe 1-2 wines and mixed drinks over the whole period.

The best prices I remember were at the Neonopolis Denny's, where they supposedly have no cocktail priced over $4.50.

Most of the places we went were not memorable as far as high or low prices, but a few places I remember reasonable prices were the drink cart outside of the Fremont downtown and, of all places, the gift shop at the Flamingo where they had those big blue Bud Light bottles for $4.25, about half of what the typical casino bar charges for them, if they have them.

Any other reasonable drink places?

My partner and I stayed at the Golden Nugget downtown. A dewars and soda and domestic beer came to $10. Not cheap but then again you know how vegas is. I know some of the casino's downtown The Plaza comes to mind have beers for about $2.50 allthough that might just be at certain bars during certain hours.

We need to put the issue of high drink prices in perspective, I would
say the prices in LV are comparable to the prices in New York City, but
higher than those say in adjoining Long Island. However, even on Long
Island a glass of wine at a restaurant or bar is in the range of 7 to 10
dollars, some higher. Although I am a scotch drinker when I am a lady I
drink wine...it's more lady-like! (And you can nurse it longer so you
don't get drunk, our DWI laws are so tough you really don't want more
than one...max two..drinks if you are out and behind the wheel.)

Generally Hotels have higher drink charges than other places no matter
where you go. Hell, room service breakfast for two ran me over $35.00 in
the hotel. So in the even the high prices were well "within range."

I think that's cheap. Dewar's is a top shelf brand. What would you pay
for that where you live?

I was drinking Crown Royal and coke. I paid $6 at Harrah's. The places
that we went to for happy hour and meals varied from $6.50 to $8.50.

There is a dive bar on Flamingo (? (On the way to Tuscany)) that serves
beer and foot long hot dogs for $2.50! Lol! I stayed at Tuscany a few
years back and don't remember their prices being shocking.

Hi Vicky,

I work at a hotel in Del Mar California. Drinks are un godly expensive here, a bottle of Budweiser is $6 and a Dewars will set you back $8. That being said hotels and tourist traps anywhere tend to be like that. I lived in Vegas for ten years and bassically the moral of the story is don't drink anywhere on the strip (unless you know someone!) Where did you stay that room service for 2 was only 35 that doesn't seem too bad? I do have to agree with what I read about Artisan. my partner and I did not get treated bad however the drinks were really steep 2 dewars were $24. At least they weren't too weak. Being a bartender I have trained my partner to overtip whenever in doubt, she did and by the second round I was drunk. This was our first time at Artisan and we loved the ambiance.

Next year we'll do a upscale HH and reverse HH tour.Appetizer and drinks start at $5.As an example, Wolfgang Puck has $7 wine and apps at the bar.I'll be collecting info between now and next year.

Hi:

If you are thinking about a replacement for Artisan, let me offer a few suggestions, but a lot can change in LV between now and next April. Am not a big fan of Artisan. It is hard to find, hard to park and unpredictable on service and price.

1. I like the Tuscany. It is very LGBTQ friendly and easy to get to. They have 2 lounges: The T Spot (we could give new meaning to that name) in the casino, and the Piazza in the hotel (where the band plays Tues to Sat). I have seen each of them closed for private events, especially early in week (Sun to Tues). I can have 3 glasses of wine and listen to live music for the price of 1 glass at the Artisan. There is a fine Italian Rest., a good Mexican Rest., a Cafe and a Buffet all with reasonable prices. That stretch of Flamingo is called Restaurant Row by the Cab drivers. There's everything from Olive Garden to Landrys within a few blocks.

2. Circus Circus used to be considered not very LGBTQ friendly. That has changed somewhat. (That part of Strip is quiet now) The Banquet Manager at CC is also a big dog in SNAPI, the LV Pride group. CC now hosts monthly Pride Family Bingo in the Ballroom, with drag queens, prizes and gag prizes, including shots for the house every time O-69 is called.

For the evening Bingo they set up a food bar with a variety of snacks, real food and salads at very reasonable prices. They set up a bar with very reasonable prices: domestic beer $3.50, import $4, vodka drinks $4, and some specials. Last weekend they had pajama Bingo Brunch. The brunch was $19 all inclusive tax/tip and a full spread. They had bottomless mimosas for $6 (my friend and I finished a pitcher). They had $4 bloody marys and $4 wine along with a full bar.

The Ballroom is in the Sky Tower somewhat away from the main casino and midway. It is really quite private. You can park in the Sky Tower garage and the walk from the garage to the ballroom is no further than the walk from the valet stand at the Artisan to the bar. The ballroom is quite large and everything could be held inside. The Pepermill is across the street.

3. The other choice for someplace really private would be The Center. The banquet room can serve 500. There's lots of parking and totally private. Would need to hire a caterer for a bar, or get a permit and hire some of the "boys" from the Center to tend bar. The cafe is open and has a good menu with reasonable prices. It's a short hop to Fremont St.
