What are you looking forward to the most at DLV?

Harvey Wallbangers could still a great social lubricant even in today's
fast pace world. Unfortunately, today's young bartenders don't
understand and appreciate what a delicate drink it is, requiring
mathematically precise proportions of the exact ingredients of the
highest quality, properly aged under the right conditions, rigorously
mixed in a strict, but delicate, precise, and meticulous manner in order
to obtain the subtle blended taste the fastidious Harvey Wallbanger
drinker demands. It also seems older bartenders don't get enough
experience making them these days, have lost their skills, and no longer
meet the old mixologist standards! As a result those of us who learned
to love Harvey Wallbangers as young adults are probably better off
avoiding them today. You could be correct that this loss may be the
reason some national and world events seen so hostile.

We need a popular drink today would lead to rising concern for universal
love and world peace like we enjoyed in the era of the Harvey
Wallbanger. However, be aware, very aware, of the bartender who makes
his or her Harvey Wallbanger in a casual manner using just any bar
bottle of Galiano (sic) that has been exposed to a typical smokey bar
environment, vodka, and orange juice casually mixed together with some
ice; even if he floats the Galiano (sic) on top of the mixed vodka and
orange juice it will probably not be the same as the legendary drink of
old! It's probably just better to stick to bottle light beer, but the
newbie likely won't know the difference and it could be fun to watch
would be novices learn about a legendary drink. Annie could volunteer to
serve as the model for the Harvey Wallbanger experiment because she has
the most recent experience!

Who knows, a certain order of nuns, sometimes represented at DLV, might
find this to be a good way to encourage candidates' entry into their
postulancy.

I've not heard. Are representatives of that order of nuns going to be
with us this year "in habit?"

Uh ... yeah, right!

My guess is that the best chances for this are RHPS and Karaoke at the
Beauty Bar.

Well I have given this a lot of thought and narrowed it down to 3
things.

The first thing I am really looking forward too is seeing some of the
girls I met last year, everyone was just so awesome.

The second thing is getting my nails done, I so love acrylic nails and
try to get them done once a year but being able to have them for the
whole week is a dream come true.

The third thing is meeting new people, I tend to be shy but am going to
make a real effort to meet and get to know as many of the girls at Diva
Las Vegas as I can.

You don't want to do the acrylic nails too often, because if you wear them all of the time, you will get a bad case of spoon nails. I used to have them, and I was impressed at the way they could stand up to abuse, but I couldn't do things like picking up a coin off of the floor, or picking my nose properly.

Yeah, I know...ewww...that's gross...well, I was actually kidding about the nose picking thing, but acrylics are thick, and they get in the way of doing things like picking up a dime.

But anyway, I got rid of the acrylics because I talked to friends who had spoon nails from doing the acrylic thing too much. For a while, I grew my natural nails out long, which is really just an exercise in behaviour modification. Now, I play guitar and violin, so short nails are a way of life.

I used to play guitar, but for the past several years or so I've been letting the nails grow a bit and it just doesn't work. Vanity or music?

This year I broke one of my nails badly doing a "rack and stack" the other night and I ended up filing the others down a bit

I had hoped that my recuperation from a hip replacement would be far
enough along that I could at least make it down for the last couple of
days but it just is not to be. Will miss you all and look forward to
DLV 2012!

That one would be a no-brainer for me. I would choose music every time. My music is what keeps me going these days, ça et l'herbe.

Why not just ask your doctor for some good drugs? You can have a good time at DLV while taking a large dose of oxycontin...trust me, I know these things. If nothing else, we can get you drunk on Galiano and you will feel no pain.

With Galiano [sic] you will feel no pain for a while. However, you will definitely feel it the next morning. You'll probably become well acquainted with Ralph in the process as well.
