Welcome newcomers. We hope you will be joining us this April!

We already have over 60 signed up, so everything is pointing to an
extremely good turnout this year.

Mailing list clarification:

For those who were expecting a mailing last week, this list will be
coming out less frequently this year due to the fact that we've moved
discussion and Q&A and such over to the separate DLV Discussion List.

This list is exclusively announcements and other high importance items.
Prior to April it is expected to come out no less frequently than
monthly and no more frequently than weekly, sticking to the Sunday
schedule when practical.

The DLV Discussion List is optional and can be subscribed to for either
individual messages or digests, or viewed on the web. If you wish to
subscribe to the DLV Discussion List, send a brief e-mail to:

Hotel updates:

The Imperial Palace web site is apparently showing that the IP is sold out
for some of the nights during DLV. As of mid week, Travelocity still had
IP rooms available from the 21st. thru the 27th.

Sahara is still showing good rates and availability over the DLV period.

However (comma) don't procrastinate, gang! Rates are known to skyrocket
and hotels are known to sell out with no notice!

Limo feedback requested:

Our Org group is wondering if there is a demand to have limos for the
Thursday evening Limo Tour designated smoking and nonsmoking and maybe
even alcohol and no alcohol.

In the past, all limos were designated nonsmoking by default unless all
riders agreed otherwise. Frequent outdoor stops occur, so there were no
issues that I am aware of.

SO activity:

As of now we have about 10 or so SO's signed up for DLV 2003. We've had
a couple items about this over on the discussion list, but any and all
additional input would be appreciated.

Mindy and Diane need some feedback regarding the annual SO get-together.

All SO's, male and female, are invited to this.

For those of you who attended the SO luncheon last year, would you like
to see this repeated as a luncheon, or would you like more of a happy
hour type of thing?

For those SO's who have not attended, what would you prefer, luncheon,
happy hour, or other ideas?

Just hit REPLY to this mailing and tell Mindy and Diane what you would
like to see as SO activity.

DLV People Gallery:

One way to become acquainted with one another prior to our big event is
to share your photos in the DLV Gallery. Several people are already
featured. To view the gallery, visit the URL:

least one being a clear face shot if possible. Individual .jpg images

1. The years you have attended DLV. (The gallery is open to all, not
limited to those who attended in the past.)

2. Your personal web site URL. Optional, noncommercial sites only, no
"adult" sites please.

3. Your email address. Optional, this will be encoded so it will be
clickable by most browsers, but not readable by most spambots.

The Confirmation Number you get when you register will be your password
to the update page. If you have misplaced or forgotten this, visit the

Room sharing:

DLV, just like any other event where people pay for hotel rooms, can be
more affordable if people share rooms. We will have a "roommate clearing
house" in this mailing list.

If you've already booked a room, and would like for somebody else to
stay with you and share the expense, or if you're looking for somebody
who has extra space, please write to this list (dlv@geekbabe.com) with
the word "Roommate" somewhere in the subject line. Please include the
following items in your e-mail:

1. Your name.

2. Your e-mail address.

3. What date you will be arriving and what date you will be departing.

4. Do you have a room to share, or do you need space in one.

5. Any annoying habits or traits you have. (Do you smoke, do you snore,
are you a very early riser, compulsive talker, late-nite MTV addict,
etc.)

6. Any additional notes or comments.

When we have roommate items, we will include them in a special ongoing
section toward the bottom of each DLV Announcement List mailing. Those
interested in sharing rooms can then contact each other by e-mail and
make arrangements.

Please remember, any roommate agreements are private arrangements
strictly between the people involved, and I or anybody else cannot be
responsible if things don't work out (etc. etc., yada-yada, you know the
drill).
