On Monday everyone dresses in Red.
On Tuesday everyone dresses in Yellow.
On Wednesday everyone dresses in Green.
On thhursday everyone dresses in Blue.
On Friday everyone dresses in Purple.

Good idea?

Ummm, not such a good idea.

I want to wear what inspires me. I'd rather dress for time, place,
weather and my own degree of fab without being limited by what color of
the rainbow it is that day.

An entire week? I could go for an event. A dinner or cocktail event,
something along that line.

I do enjoy meeting the challenge of a color theme. And since black has
been done to death (see my pictures last year - thank god for More
Magazine !) I think giving a base color to work with and see what
imagination brings to the table would be fun, there is no compulsory
order to be themed but hey - for those of us who are born shoppers and
consider ourselves capable of meeting such a challenge, why not ?

When I answered the other email I thought (being a member of the L
squad) rainbow as in pride - silly me.

That would solve the problem of standing out in a crowd.

NOT!!!!!!!!

DLV has had theme nights... one theme for only
one day or one event that was more specific
themed item, ie red shoes, blonde wig,
retro 50s, dressing like a slut or like a escort service
call girl for NSD, and even murder mystery character
dressing for role gaming, comes to mind.

Some themes that never became a event, like a pageant
or formal evening gown dinners, or even driving/riding in
a former hearse, school bus, or limo tour, wearing full
nun's habits along with others in high school girl's uniforms,
posing for pics at the long gone Del Mar fornificatorium
motel (Spelling Annie?), a once prominent photo stop of
the limo tour.

Other proposed ideas was a pool party to enjoy wearing
swim suits, short shorts, halter tops, boy shorts, or bikinis
basically some sort of swimwear with or wthout pool.

As Annie has said, only some will actively participate.
Most have enough of a full plate to just to come to
DLV events dressed.

Some of those theme nights had a prize for the
one decided by the planner to be the
best dressed in matching the theme.

Many may have the item or items to wear, but never
given the opportunity, reason, or event to dress in it.

I think it is a good challenge for those that want
to do this. Many may have patterns on their
outfits that would match the themed color. Everyone
should have a color or colors on outfits that they
already have, and they look good in them.

For colors, don't forget black, brown, pink,
violet, orange, (shades of) gray, and white.

It can be simple, examples ... like a black dress night,
or little black dress or gown night or white cotillion
afternoon high tea dress with hat . I'm sure most of
us has something they would like to wear if there was
an appropriate event to show it off.

Several years ago I remember a "Red Shoes" theme and a big dinner at the HRC
that was populated by Office Professionals. Themes aren't necessarily bad,
and I believe we have a pretty good handle on doing our own thing anyway. If
someone wants to participate in this, more power to them. If you don't want
to it's still Diva Las Vegas! It certainly doesn't violate any of the
standards or baseline behaviors we do agree on. Suggest away, but just know
if you suggest something with Capri pants, I'll not be your friend that day.

A color day, or red shoes day, or the like for a day or event has a
possibility and might have support.

However, several days with colors or any theme I believe is "pushing the
envelop" so to speak with this group.

It turns into a "herding the cats event...al la JoAnn's observations.

Red Shoe Night did have a fair degree of participation.

Secretaries Night didn't really catch on.

Some will get into themes like this. Others really don't like
them, and many are indifferent.

I really don't think there's anything wrong with something like
this if it's optional.
