Restroom Incident?

Hi everyone. This is the first time I've started a post here so
I hope I'm doing it correctly.

I have a rather specific question. It has to do with a restroom
incident at The Sahara in the wee hours of Friday morning
(approximately 3:00 a.m.). It's a long story but I was within
earshot of what happened and from what I could tell, I believe
the security at The Sahara backed us 100%.

>From what I was told afterwards by a woman who was sitting next
to me at the blackjack table, whatever happened had to do with
one of us, a blonde woman who was in the casino at that time.

I do remember seeing the blonde from my vantage point at the
table but her and I never spoke.

So....if you are that blonde or if anyone else has any first-hand
knowledge of what happened, please chime in. I'm really curious
if I heard things correctly (which I hope I did) and conversely,
if this ended up being a bad situation, perhaps we should know
more about what happened.

Thanks so much!!!

Sara

Well, it didn't happen to me, and I'm not blonde, but I did
get a report from the person involved, which I believe is
the same incident you're referring to.

The individual in question was playing at one of the gaming
tables at the Sahara, nature called, and she need to take
a bio break.

She went in the direction of the nearest ladies room and
was confronted by a "bubba" type security guard who said
"no way!"

She reported this to the dealer and/or pit boss, who then
suggested another out of the way restroom to use.

That's the "just the facts, ma'am", answer as I know it.
. . . . .

I think this is a very clear case of unduly obvious usage
of a public restroom. A good percentage of the restroom
incidents which have occurred over our 14 years are of
this very type.

When this was reported to me, I asked the individual if
she happened to be staying at the Sahara, to which she
replied that she was. My response was that it's always
best, if you are at your home hotel, to use the restroom
in your room, even if it's slightly inconvenient or it
means a pinprick to the ego to do so. It's one of the "best
practices" which we've learned over our 14 year history
and there's absolutely no question about it being legal,
within policy, or appropriate.

The suggestion by the pit staff to use an out of the way
and less obvious restroom was another solution.

Many of our attendees scoff at our restroom guidelines,
but these are the result of 14 years of real-world experience
in Las Vegas and we've found that if the guidelines are
indeed followed, very few issues will occur. Almost all of
our restroom issues and incidents had to do with such things
as going in groups, very obvious usage, and misbehavior such
as standing, loud talking in a restroom, etc.

I know about the incidednt. A friend that works there told me.
It was NOT because of the rest room it was because she wanted
to cut across the PIT to the rest room and the pit boss said
she had to go around not through the pit so in short it had
nothing to do witgh the rest room. I have been in all the
hotels and not bit of problem. IF you think that you might,,
get in and get out and they will not bother you

Anyone familiar with gambling in Vegas knows that you cannot
cut through the area of the dice table where the pit boss
stands and observes the games in progress. This are is full
of communications and storage of money and chips as well.

I am sure he was not referring to what restroom to use but
to use a different route to get there. You or any other
Transgender has the right to use the restroom of your choice
or as you present yourself in Vegas. I personally have been
going there as a woman for more than fifteen years and never
have I been questioned about my sex.

If anyone has a problem in Vegas it is because they have the
problem of not knowing how to present themselves as a woman.

Thank you for replying Annie.

So for the record, let me share a little more about my
vantage point for this whole thing. I was in the exact
same boat and was in the ladies room when I heard the
sound of a security radio.

I thought to myself they were there because of me when
I heard voices. A woman was talking, I couldn't understand
her, and then I heard the man's voice (security, I presume)
distinctly say something along the lines of "there are
over 200 of them in town, where are they supposed to go?...
is it that big of a deal?"

I left the restroom when I was sure the commotion died down
and a woman who was sitting next to me at the blackjack table
reported that security had some sort of encounter with the
blonde.

I know what I heard but clearly something is a bit off here.
Perhaps the incident you are conveying was a different one?

At any rate, while I'm not into making restroom sit-in's our
call for social activism, the incident you describe Annie was
inappropriate on the casino's part. I'm disguisted that we
even have to deal with such things these days.

This is why I perceived

I have used the bathrooms at the sahara. Ip, ceasers, bellagio, 4queens
and several none casino places in Vegas with no problems. Many times I
have had gg's go to the ladies room with me. They always seem to get a
kick out of going to the bathroom with tg's. I've made eye contact with
security at all the casinos I spoke of. I always smile at them and walk
with confidence. I think they just stare at my boobs lol. Of course I
always hang out at the bars on the casino floors where there are almost
always kewl gg's that I can't help socializing with. And girls being
girls... Well we all go together and touch up, tinkle or gossip. :) I
guess I've just been lucky.... Or am I just cheating the system??

Restroom Incident?

Ladies,

Gina lays down the law. Okay I don't have any authority for this but
please listen.

RESTROOMS!!!!!!

I too have been using the correct restroom for my gender presentation
for a very long time. (Good for me)

At Trevi, I also heard male voices in the restroom and like Annie, was
not done fast enough to cause grief to the participates.

Our first rule is without a doubt, to cause the minimum amount of
distress to our genetic sisters in the restroom, there are a few easy
ways to make this happen.

Rule 1: SHUT UP! Get in, do your business get out. Don't chit-chat,
cough, spit, hock (heard that once at Bellagio), quiet sneezes, etc.
Hopefully you get the picture, if not reread the words right after Rule
1:

Rule 2: The Mirrors and sinks are not yours! They belong to our
genetic sisters. Unless it is a single holer (one stall with a door
lock) don't stand at the mirror applying make-up, lipstick, adjusting
your boobs, just don't do it. Hand your hands, looking down and demure
works well.

Rule 3: Be Considerate. You don't have anything to prove. Unless you
are post op, have the right marker on your driver's license and don't
cause trouble (GG, TS, CD, whatever, applies to everybody), you use the
Women's restroom at the pleasure of the property owner. If asked to
leave, do it, don't argue, go find an out of the way one. Don't cut
through the pits!! Every single time a scene is made, our community
suffers. Think about someone other than yourself.

Restrooms are a pain, nowhere else in our society is there such blatant
discrimination, or actually I guess segregation. (And it isn't even
separate and equal, the women's restrooms are always much nicer!) I
speak a lot at colleges and the one question that always comes up is
"What restroom do I use?" Duh, which one do you think I'd get the crap
beat out of me?

Ladies (and admirers) we are transgendered people of many flavors and
orientation, we are making great strides in being accepted (or even
ignored works) we have been truly successful in how we are accepted in
Las Vegas and many other places. Being stupid, intolerant (remember we
are trying to foster a reduction of intolerance), blatantly rude,
obnoxious, drunk and disorderly or any number of other antisocial
behaviors does not help our cause or even your own.

Bottom line, be quiet, be presentable (this is a whole different
problem), be considerate and I really doubt you'll have any problems.
Remember what you do affect the minds and hearts of many others.

Rant over,

Love ya,

Gina

>I guess I've just been lucky.... Or am I just cheating the
>system??

No, you've been lucky. So far, that is!

Whenever the topic of restroom incidents comes up, there is
this inevitable chorus of "Well, I've been using the ladies
room for months/years/decades/centuries and I've never had
a problem ..."

To that I might add one very significant adverb: YET!

Why?

Because history has shown that in many cases, it's a totally
innocent party, not involved in any way with the original
complaint, who gets the snotty end of the stick, so to
speak. :(

Often times, when a complaint is made, it takes security a
few minutes to respond and check things out, and in that
interval, the actual perp is long gone, but somebody else
who happens to be noticed by security gets confronted, or
worse. This has resulted in a couple of rather ugly scenes
in our history. :(

>Many times I have had gg's go to the ladies room with me.
>...Well we all go together and touch up, tinkle or gossip. :)

It may seem that using the ladies room in the company of
supportive GGs offers some degree of security, or even a
tacit sense of permission to use the facilities.

Again, history has shown that this is incredibly poor
practice and has resulted in multiple security complaints
over our years.

Yes, those who directly accompany you may be cool about you
being in there, but others will not be, and will complain
to security or management. Incidents from this practice
have occurred at Rio and twice at Treasure Island. In one
case a supportive GG who attempted to stick up for one of
our people was escorted off the property by security.

In particular, the sound of a male voice in a ladies room
is a red flag and can be very disturbing. Many GGs (and
even TGs) consider this to be a danger signal. From within
a stall or behind a wall or partition, they can't tell that
it's a M-F TG. To them it may as well be a peeping tom or a
hardcore perv. All they know is that the voice is out of
place and assume that something is wrong.

Twice this year, at the restroom at Trevi, I heard loud
male voices as I was in the stall doing my thing. Instead
of me, this could have just as easily been a very intolerant
civilian! The first group left before I finished, but I
"shushed" the second group very assertively and scolded
them with a hand gesture. Yes, they shut up. It's things
like this that cause restroom incidents! :(

I would like to apologize for my previous post. I always said I would
never comment on this topic.

The only good advise one can give anyone about useing public restrooms
is don't do it. Or go to a unisex bathroom. Choose otherwise and you are
on your own. That's it... That's life... I don't want my personal
experiances to make anyone feel they can believe "well it works for
her..." I always take care to only use the ladies room under intelligent
conditions.

I'm also very fortunate to be a very difficult read most of the time.
That being said, I don't expect to never have a problem. In most cases I
don't use public restrooms In guy or girl mode unless I have to. They
are all gross...

Restroom Incident?

I often go to the ladies room with my GG partner. This may offer a
degree of security if there is an attendant or the restroom is
unexpectedly slow and we have to wait and are joined by other women
waiting. She usually gives me priority over her to get into the first
available stall which I secure and then attend to business in a
womanlike manner. Regardless, I always avoid talking and especially
avoid primping afterward to exit as quickly as possible.

I have had an incredible number of interesting and semi-terrifying
events happen in various ladies' rooms including a request to share my
toilet paper with an occupant of the neighboring stall, a flight
attendant asking me to hold her bags while she applied band-aids to
another flight attendant, and more than one woman inquiring about the
time. Except for the time requests where I have had to summoned up my
best voice for a brief reply, all of the other incidents have been
managed with an absence of voice.

Just because a t-girl happens to be with a born female does not excuse
her from the rules of common sense and courtesy. While I have never been
confronted using the women's room, if confronted, I will comply with
whatever request is made and avoid any escalation of the problem. That
is what Miss Manners would do.
