I was a coincidental witness this weekend to a somewhat unique
restroom situation, which I actually think was handled well.
Anyway, to make a long story long ... :)
I was at a local casino, and after a few adult beverages I
felt the need to take a bio break. I entered the restroom
and the only open stall was the "accessible" one on the near
end, which was quite spacious, even for such an intended
purpose.
As I was doing my thing, I realized that there was some
kind of commotion going on outside the stalls, and I
thought I heard a distinctly male voice out there. A
female voice then announced "Sorry, ladies, this is
really the best way to handle this ..."
As I exited, I found two female security guards and
a gentleman on a motorized scooter with a female
partner or attendant.
The one security guard then escorted the couple into
the stall I had just exited, almost appearing to
apologize to me with words to the effect of "Sorry,
I really don't know any other way to handle this."
The other security lady stood guard at the entrance
and let anybody else entering that there was indeed
a gentleman with an attendant in the area.
I think this particular case was handled very well.
It also points out the need for unisex restrooms,
which this particular facility (built in the 1990s
and expanded maybe 5 years ago) does not have.
