I don't doubt at all that they were given a line of bull$#!+
by Guido!

It's well understood that clubs like this are after two
particular demographics:

1. 20-something hotties.

2. Guys with a lot of $$$$$.

I'm trying to understand if this was a blatant case of anti-TG
bias, or more of a general case of the bum's rush which was to
be given, selectively, to those who Guido didn't think fit one
of the above.

In answer to your question, at the time we got into line there
was one large group of girls and guys that were admitted just
as we got there.

There were no other women in line at the time but Veronica and
me. A number of extremely hot girls came out of Tryst while we
stood in line and a few girls in their twenties got in line while
we were being escorted out of line.

No one else was escorted out of line while we were there so I
can't say that we were the only ones discriminated against that
night. However the security guy's comment when I asked him if
it was because of the way we were dressed he said "What do you
think?". At that point Veronica urged me to just leave and forget
about it which is what I did.

Dear Friends,

I guess I'll try to delve further into this issue concerning the
Tryst nightclub. Now I am saddened by the fact that our little
DLV party was denied entrance. Whether it was because of TG or
not I don't know. What I do feel is that the demand for entering
the club is often greater than what the club can accommodate.
Therefore the club can be choosy with who they can admit. I'm
not saying that's right, but it just seems to be that way. From
what I've read, men, either by themselves, or in groups, have
a much harder time getting in than beautiful young women. And
I've read that basically the clubs aim to have a certain mix
inside, and that often steers toward beautiful genetic women.

Now I did attend a private party a few months back. I was
allowed to buy my ticket and enter and enjoy myself. I had no
issues with any of the employees of the club, including
security. Maybe that's different than what happened at Tryst
during DLV. I don't know. But surely I'm not the only TG
person to be admitted to Tryst.

I am thinking that getting a table reservation is the best
way to go. I'm not an expert on this. Of course it's quite
expensive, but so are individual drinks. I guess we need to
do the math. I'm thinking a reservation is a pretty secure
way to get in. After all, money talks. Besides, you have a
place to sit.

I'm sure there are DLV attendees who've been to various
mainstream clubs on the strip. I'm sure plenty of good ideas
are out there. I would like to go out to one of them some
time. Let's get some advice here. What do you think?

Sincerely, J. here in LV.

You have a good point. But yet in December Tryst allowed me in for that
party. I'm 42, 200 lbs, 6 feet, and I wore a somewhat conservative
outfit. Did I slip in through the cracks? Could the rules really be that
different when buying into a private party? I would think the club has
still has some say here.

Hope this helps, J. in warm LV.

Annie,

You ask why, a better question is why not? Personally I love to mess with
the white bread and hang out in places where we typically wouldn't or
haven't, Mary Beth, Michelle and I at House of Blues a couple of times rings
a bell. (Remember the cute bridal party, and the pissed off military guys..)

Maybe I was more adventurous a few years ago, or maybe I was just lighter!
Mainstream venues are a blast and the more mainstream the more visible
sometimes the most fun. I love to go to expensive (and really good)
restaurants, I love the way we are treated in these places and I love to
treat the wait staff with equal courtesy and appreciation. Nightclubs
aren't typically the places I hang out in boy-mode, but I have never avoided
them either. Dancing and having a good time just seems to be easily in
Gina-mode and possibly because my wife doesn't attend, she hates nightclubs
and Las Vegas in general.

My humble opinion.

Love ya,

Gina

>Whether it was because of TG or not I don't know.

I think it's more of a general case that we, "we" being those
of us who are over 30, over 130, TG, not flashing a lot of
cash, or all of the above, are not those they particularly
want in the club.

The image of these clubs is carefully crafted to appear as
the ideal mating territory for het/cisgender types who are
either exceptionally attractive, have a lot of cash, or
both! Those are the ones they want in there. They don't
want TGs, they don't want older women, they don't want women
of size, and they don't want nerdy guys unless they flash
the cash.

>What I do feel is that the demand for entering the club is

On Friday or Saturday, I would say that capacity is indeed an
issue, and that's really what they size the clubs for, their
weekend crowds. During the weekdays I'm sure they still get a
good crowd, but not to the point that they really need to
hold people on line for extended periods of time.

>I'm not saying that's right, but it just seems to be that way.

Nightclub discrimination is probably right on the line of what
is legal (IANAL), but that's the way the game is played.

If you read the Las Vegas talk boards, this is a recurring
topic.

>From what I've read, men, either by themselves, or in groups,
>have a much harder time getting in than beautiful young women.

Yes and no. Yes, twentybopper hotties always get in, and often
times they don't even see the line, or the door that most of
the others see.

As for guys, if they get on line with the plebeans, yes, they
wait, and wait, and wait -- unless ...

1. "Bottle service" or "table service", put down the cash,
buy a table with a bottle, and you get in, for a price.

2. There's a whole "nightclub host" industry, private (or so
they say) firms and individuals who will arrange line passes,
table reservations, etc., for a price, of course.

The guys that these clubs want are those who show their
willingness to part with large sums of cash.

>And I've read that basically the clubs aim to have a certain
>mix inside, and that often steers toward beautiful genetic
>women.

The clubs compete with each other to have the image of being
the club with the most attractive and most available-looking
young women, yes.

This is what attracts the guys with the bucks!

>Now I did attend a private party a few months back.

And when the club is "bought out" for a private party, it's
whoever bought out the club who decides who gets in, not Guido.

>I am thinking that getting a table reservation is the best
>way to go.

Bottle service, at a price, of course, is a known way to
bypass the line. Of course there's nothing that says that
even if you have a reservation for table/bottle service,
that Guido could come up with some excuse to deny your
entrance.

>After all, money talks. Besides, you have a place to sit.

Not to bring up a sore subject, but one of our people got
"burned" on bottle service on Friday of DLV week when her
table-mates did not show. :)

>Let's get some advice here. What do you think?

Not to be a party pooper, or maybe I'm just showing my age,
but I'm not really "getting it" why our people, who are far
from the demographic of these clubs even if gender is not
considered, have such a desire to to to these clubs.

Why?

I don't know, I'm asking.

Yes anything is possible, but I believe that would be pretty rare. I
can't imagine that all of the security personnel at mainstream
nightclubs are like this Guido. I think perhaps we bit into a bad apple.

I'm sorry about that. That's a totally different issue here. Would that
person have been admitted into the club?

I think we all have different interests. I can say that at my private
party we had people of many different ages. I danced a bit with a woman
who was probably about seventy. She didn't dress her age of course. It
was fun. There were lots of people in their thirties, forties, and
fifties. And I did dance a while with a few young twenty something girls
who fit the general profile of girls who go to these clubs. They liked
my pumps. What's wrong with trying something different.

On another note I wore a t shirt and knee length skirt and flipflops and
went to Circus Circus on a Saturday and played midway games and saw the
circus acts. Then I went to the Adventuredome and rode on the bumper
cars. The Rim Runner (my favorite ride) was out of service. Lots of
kids, not a problem. Everyone was nice to me. I won a stuffed animal.
Next time, dinner at THE Steakhouse. By the way, I was alone on my
little trip. By DLV 2009, we'll have this place green lighted.

We just have a lot more work to do. I might be the one who has to do it.

Sincerely J. in LV as the sun gets higher.

It was a private party. Whoever threw the party could invite
or reject at will. It's the Golden Rule, he who has the gold
makes the rules! :)

>Could the rules really be that different when buying into

The club could accept or reject the group as a whole, but the
person or firm who rented the club would scream loudly if
Guido tried to exclude somebody the host invited.

The night clubs I've attended, if really crowded or popular, I go
early before the lines start as in before they open, and plan on staying
all night. I've never had any problems getting in when they open.
Most of the times the 'Guido's aren't even there.

It beats waiting in the lines that form after the club is full,
and the 'Guido's have a tougher time using their limited brain cells
dealing with individuals and making selective choices. This may
be a alternative, than arriving when the club is already full. If the
'Guido's are having a 'bad' night at the line, it just adds to the potential
not getting in.

Depending on the night club, clubs tend to draw certain types of groups,
and it can be only by word of mouth. Some if not most will have 20-30s
crowd, others may be gothic or punk. It can be as simple as the
music the club is playing, or whatever group is performing. There
could be night clubs that would fit our group, but it wouldn't be
as common or plentiful than those for the 20-30s age group. I've
been to some that have 70s and 80s night, and the place is packed
with people my age, enjoying the music and dancing...and for many
taking out the old clothes and dressing to that circa, with the
BeeGees, Beatles, Earth Wind and Fire, Three Dog Night,
music playing.

Gypsies for example is or was a good night club to go to for our
group to go dancing.

Enjoying to dance, and more so for our group, the added draw
or chance to dress in exotic womens dance clothing and looking like
a women is a serious desire, regardless if one passes in it or not.

Look at the clothing thats available at Bad Attitude, Studio Lites, and
Bare Essentials. These stores sell this type of outfits and thats all
they have, and only in sizes 0 to 12?

Some go to night clubs just to for the dancing. It can also make one
'feel' younger to years past, esp if dancing and getting into the new
music or old familiar music, or for some in close proximity near younger
ggs that look awesome in their outfits, the usual animal attraction and
eye candy.

> Annie,

> You ask why.

I feel that I should be able to to all the things that "normal" people
do, regardless of their age, gender, race, religion, etc. I enjoy being
out and about in Las Vegas doing whatever I might be interested in. Most
of the time it's mundane things like going to the laundromat, or getting
the car washed, or to the store for groceries.

To be honest, the "alternative" places don't hold much interest for me.
I never had the desire to go to places like Krave or Gipsy or Freezone
or Spotlight, etc. I enjoy eating great food, in expensive high class
establishments, and in some more value priced places, and I've even had
great food in some "hole in the wall" and "dive" kind of places. I like
to dance on occasion, I had a great time at the Suncoast one night.
Sometimes I might go a private party, or movies, or shows, or a theme
park (The Adventuredome).

The way I see it, why restrict myself. It's all about having fun,
regardless of age. I hope to wear my pumps for a long time.

Sincerely, J. stepping off her soapbox.
