Hi Carole,
> So then, who do you all reccommend for new wigs?
The DLV web page on business have several wig
shops that are recommended.
But...
There are many aspects to choosing a wig that
could determine which wig shop to go to based
on the variety of wigs they have available that
works with your face and body. Many nail and
hair stylist places also carry a line or two of different
wigs. So does the internet.
Most, if not all wig shops has a place to try on the wig
of your choice on your head to see how it looks, but it
can be as basic as a mirror in the general show room.
Some have private cubicles, others don't. It depends
on how confident you are or knowing exactly what you
are looking for.
I do recommend to try the wig on before buying it to see
how it looks on your head. It can be a big difference in
how the wig looks like on a foam head versus how it looks
on you.
Some wigs will need some sort of altering, shaping or
actually cutting parts like bangs shorter to fit your face, so
you need to find one that can do that for you after you
buy the wig.
The shop should also have accessories for the wig, like
wig shampoo and conditioner, stands, and other items
needed for wig maintenance.
Aspects to consider:
1. Size of head and matching wig cap size
2. Color of wig hair - solid, mixed, highlighted, or matching your real hair
3. Length of the wig hair - short, medium, long, show girl
4. Style - straight, wavy, curly, spike, - that matches your face and appropriate age
5. Type - Synthetic or Human
6. Quality - well known brands, unknown brands, custom made wigs
7. Does the wig look like real hair or fake on your head?
8. How much money you want to spend.
