This week we feature Wednesday's art tour.

The Diva Las Vegas Art Tour this year will be revisiting two old haunts.
The Guggenheim museum in the Venitian Hotel/Casino and the Las Vegas
Art Museum.

Both are Mainstream locations, but the afternoon is a bit less exposed.

Modern Masters from the Guggenheim Collection. During the last half of
the 19th century, a new generation of artists began to defy traditional
conventions of painting and acceptable subject matter. This artistic
revolution, initiated by Edouard Manet and the Impressionists, would
lead to the radical expansion of the range of formal approaches for
artists even as they continued to paint traditional subjects.

This exhibition presents treasured masterpieces from artists such as
Manet, Picasso, van Gogh, and Cezanne, that chart their experimental
interpretations of the academic themes of portraiture, landscape, still
life, and genre. For Details please visit their web page at:

http://www.guggenheimlasvegas.org/

Meet at the entrance to the Guggenheim Museum just before 11:00. The
Museum is located Steet/Casino level near the front entrance and
registration desk for the hotel. A map of the Casino is available at:

If the walk from the parking lot is daunting, a cab will deposit you
only a minute away from the Museum entrance. The price of admission is
$15.00 or $12.00 for Nevada Residents and/or Seniors.

For the afternoon excursion meet after lunch with Ginger by the garden
in the Bellagio to carpool at 2:00. Or if you have transportation meet
at the Las Vegas Art Museum, located at 9600 West Sahara Ave at 2:30.

This year the Las Vegas Art Museum has the offerings of three much more
modern artists for two installations and an exhibit of small but very
detailed paintings.

This gallery has been very popular with previous DLV attendees with a
very short walk from the car to the art and very few other visitors.

Although it currently shares space with a library, making this a
Mainstream location, the level of activity there generally offers the
chance for a relaxed visit. The staff has always welcomed us and
remembers us favorably.

Dress for the art tour ranges from Las Vegas tourist casual to Office
Professional wear.

Sign-up is requested, but not required for the Art Tour. Both
locations will be denoted on the DLV 2008 activity map.
