>I have a couple of questions of my own.
I will try my best to answer. :)

>baby steps!
There is no one hotel on which DLV is centered about.
We are very different from most other TG events in that respect.
We don't rent ballrooms or banquet rooms in hotels. That's not
what we do. We go out, literally.
However (comma) ...
>The Sahara seems like a good place to stay based on the
>feedback,
It's as good as any. If you need turn-down service with a mint
on the pillow, Sahara is not the place.
If you want a clean comfortable room with a fun casino and
such, it's perfect!
>is there anything happening there event wise?
Lunches only, subject to change, of course.
>Are the events posted?
The working schedule is copied to the general mailings. If you
want additional details about any activity, please ask. For some
obvious reasons, and some not so obvious reasons, we don't post
explicit details about where we will be and when in public.
The detailed schedule, with more information than you would ever
want, is sent to all validated attendees in the Large Final
Mailing.
If you're a registered DLV attendee and need to know any
specific details, write in and ask.
>If an event is not held at any of the hotels, where are
>they typically held.
All over, literally!
DLV activities occur all over town and all over the area!
>How can I get more info on this years event?
Read the mailings, the current discussion topics, and the past
discussion topics.
One item which will go out in the next general mailing, due to
go out this weekend, addresses details of activities.
>We looked at all the pictures and everyone seems to be having
>a great time,
Yes, be sure to note all of the smiling faces! :)
>but I do have that first timer anxiety... just trying to
>minimize it,
This is expected.
I would even call it normal.
It's been universally reported since the early days of DLV that
these feelings, although they may be intense and although they
may be troublesome to you, go away very rapidly after meeting
the group.
Let me assure you that even though you may not know anybody
from the group before you come to DLV, you will be among
friends! We have some of the finest people in the known
universe.
>I have never been out dressed yet, this just seems like the
>right time for me and the right event.
Each year since 1997 we've had people do their first time out
at DLV. I can't think of a more supportive atmosphere in which
to do it.
Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.
