Just thinking out loud here but it would be nice to have a section of the forum where girls could socialize without subjecting the whole group to each post. I think it is always nice to get to know other girls online before attending. :D

Let's discuss this, and I think there are a number of possible solutions here, some which may simply be hidden in plain sight.

But first, some perspective. Reading these postings may be somewhat like the old Parable of the Blind Men and the Elephant. (Google it if you don't remember it.)

Trish, the one who started this thread, and Rachel, the one who replied, posted using two totally different methods and view the Forum quite differently.

Trish did so while logged in to MyDLV and posted into the on-line version of the DLV Discussion Forum. Rachel replied via email, as she is on the list to receive the Discussion Forum via email. We also have the DLVEGAS Yahoo group, which is gatewayed to and from the Discussion Forum.

If you want to get in touch personally with another Discussion Forum user, if you and that other person are both MyDLV members, most MyDLV members have allowed their email addresses to be shown to other members. How do you see another MyDLV member's email address? Just poke around and you will find it! It's in plain sight! :)

Those who post via email or via the Yahoo group, if you want to share your email address with others in the Forum, currently you will need to post it. That's the way it's been historically set up. On the Yahoo side, other Yahoo users will be able to see your Yahoo ID, but when it gets gatewayed to mail and to MyDLV, that's stripped. If you want people to be able to contact you, just post your address.

Now if you want to see something more like a sub-forum, something that does not get gatewayed to the world, that can be set up if we define who does and does not get access. We could, for example, set up a sub-forum which is, say, limited to those registered for the upcoming DLV 2018 event.

There are many variations on this theme. We just have to know where the need is.
