Hi Brenda.
My first and "only" exposure to air travel with femme stuff in my
luggage was last DLV 2003 and it went like this.
Scared but determined I flew alone and had the added pain of customs to
contend with. As expected I was directed to the private area to discuss
what I was carrying in my suitcase and the gung Ho suitcase searcher
asked me to open the case which produced my private stuff for him and
his partner to Peruse.
"What are these?" he asked, so after clearing my throat I replied
with a new found courage I didn't know I had until then. " They are
breast forms". He said "what are they for"? Resisting the temptation
to be sarcastic for fear of being sent home in disgrace I said, "I wear
them along with the clothes you see" He didn't empty the case but
searched it thoroughly and was neither polite nor carefull when
searching but I was sent on my merry way none the worse for wear.
I carried the metal jewelry in a carry on bag along with the cell phone
charger to avoid the suitcase search which happened anyway, and when the
x ray checker asked if it was jewelry that she had seen, I confirmed
this and she said "OK off you go". It wasn't quite the harrowing
experience I had expected it to be and am ready to face it once more so
I can do DLV again.
The moral of the story is DLV was a great experience and well worth the
10 minutes of discomfort at the airport check in.
Take care and happy landings.
Kate.
