Welcome:

Welcome to those who just joined the list. We're looking forward to
having you with us next year at DLV 2006.

This is the first general mailing of the Diva Las Vegas 2006
Announcement List.

For the rest of the year of 2005, you can expect to receive about one
mailing per month, which will be mostly a summary on what's going on
with respect to the planning of DLV 2006.

Any questions or concerns, please let us know.

And, may the 4th. be with you! :)

Announcements:

DLV 2006 dates:

Toward the end of July, our ORG group will be voting on the dates for
DLV 2006. As of this time, two timeframes have been placed into
nomination:

1. Monday, April 24 thru Saturday, April 29, 2006.

2. Sunday, April 23 thru Saturday, April 29, 2006.

That's right, they differ only by the length of the event.

Comments on the proposed dates are welcome, either in private by sending
e-mail to dlv@geekbabe.com or in public in the DLV Discussion Forum.

Last call for photo vetoes:

Anybody who appears in any of the DLV 2005 photos has a reasonable
number of "NO" requests, meaning those will not be used in the final
DLV 2005 follow-up pages. This is the last call.

If you are submitting a veto, please include the exact URL of the photo
in question and which person in the photo you are, so we can crop if
possible.

Pinkfest:

Another "Vacation Not A Convention" happens in Chicago every year in
October, and that is Pinkfest.

Pinkfest is smaller than DLV, but still a lot of fun! Yes, if you
attend Pinkfest, you will see some familiar (and some new) faces!

Pinkfest 2005 is tentatively scheduled to run from Thursday, October
20 thru Sunday, October 23. (Please do not make any non-refundable
arrangements until these dates are announced as final.)

We have a mailing list for Pinkfest, which is discreet and militantly
spam-free. To be added to the Pinkfest mailing list, just send a
request to: pinkfest@pinkmyst.com

The main web site for Pinkfest is: http://www.pinkmyst.com/pinkfest/

Can We Tawk:

Our ORG group is in the process of recapping this year's event and,
in very general terms at this time, looking toward DLV 2006.

There were some issues this past year which did interfere with the DLV
experience for some of our people. We're aware of this, and we'll do our
best to deal with the rough spots for DLV 2006.

In particular, a few things ...

At DLV 2006, check-in will be available at most of the early activities,
and yes, it will really happen as we say it will happen. We'll have
multiple people doing this and multiple "kits" so there should be no
difficulty getting checked in and getting your questions answered. The
daily lunch will most likely be a check-in location.

We did receive multiple complaints about two of the restaurants we used
for our large group functions. Although the venues for DLV 2006 have yet
to be decided, it's pretty much been decided that we will not be using
these two for large dining functions in 2006. Maybe they will be used
for smaller multi-track things.

We have heard your concerns about some who did not conform to our
dress guidelines, particularly in mainstream locations.

We're taking this very seriously, and we are not going to let a few
spoil the experience for others.

The one thing we're going to try very hard to do -- or to not do, is to
add any burden to our 98+% of attendees who do dress and act
appropriately.

Here's the way it's going to be:

Anybody who shows up inappropriately dressed at a DLV 2006 mainstream
activity will be sent back to change. No discussion, no negotiation.
That's the way it will be.

One item that is under discussion is to have more activities where it
is appropriate to dress trashy or flashy if you so desire.

We're not going to dwell on this topic, but we do want everybody to know
that your concerns are being taken seriously.
