Only 49 days left, gang!

Latest updates:

First of all, welcome to those who just registered or joined the list.
Any questions or concerns, please let us know.
. . . . .

We've just broken the 100 mark as far as validated registrations go. This
seems to be the "magic number" that everybody has been waiting for. :)

As of this day, we're still estimating a total turnout of 110-130 people,
with never the entire group in any one place at any one time.

Most of our planned activities (see schedule below) are now solid, but
this far out there's still a chance some may be changed or rescheduled.

As with last year, there are no plans to cut off registration, although
it is a possibility should the projections exceed the capacity.

Everybody is excited as we get closer and closer to the best DLV ever!

Coming up shortly:

On March 24, Diane will begin the roommate matching process. If you have
requested a roommate you can expect to be contacted shortly after that
date. If you want to save money by sharing a room, please write to
roommate@geekbabe.com and get on the list.
. . .

On April 1, which is just over two weeks away, we will begin our activity
sign-up process.

This is where you indicate which of our optional activities (golf, shows,
side trips, etc.) you want to participate in.

Between now and April 1, please look over our schedule (posted below) and
our activity descriptions (in each mailing) and think about which of our
optional activities you are interested in.
. . .

During April our Big Sister Coordinators, Jenni and Nora, will begin the
matching process between Big Sisters and Little Sisters. If you asked
to have a Big Sister you can expect to be contacted during the first
part of the month of April.

Toward the end of April we will be preparing ride share lists for those
who are staying in our suggested hotels. If you're one who will be
needing a ride to DLV activities, or if you will be driving and would be
willing to give others a ride, please be sure that your hotel and
arrival and departure dates are correctly recorded on your registration.
You can update your registration at the URL:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/reg2004.html
. . .

During the last week in April we will be sending out what we call our
Large Final Mailing. This will contain various items including the final
annotated schedule, detailed driving directions to our activity
locations, driver-rider lists, dress suggestions for each activity,
photo guidelines, check-in information, list of various discounts and
promotions, link to maps and visual directions, and your own personal
ininerary which lists the optional activities you signed up for and
notes about each one.

It is suggested that you print out the Large Final Mailing items and
bring them with you. (Read them on the plane.) DLV is as paperless as
we can make it, and we will not be handing out paper copies of such
things as schedules, maps, etc.

A note about posting our links:

We need to ask for everybody's cooperation here ...

We appreciate everybody's efforts toward spreading the word about DLV
far and wide. We do track web site referrals, and we have been getting
many from personal pages, TG event listings, newsgroups, etc.

We do ask, however, that everybody use some common sense and a bit of
restraint when posting our link in a public newsgroup or forum.

Specifically, we ask that you do not post our link in a newsgroup or
forum that is explicitly sexually oriented in nature.

For the record, DLV is a social event for the TG community and is not
sexually oriented. Our web site should leave no question about that.

We also ask that you not post the same message about us to an excessive
number of groups at the same time. Such things can make us the target of
spam complaints, and rightly so.

Your cooperation is appreciated.

Diva Las Vegas Golf Information, Rules Etc.:

Each general mailing until DLV will feature one of our activities in
depth.

This week we feature our Thursday morning golf tournament.
. . . . .

Mindy writes:

The 2004 Diva Las Vegas Invitational Golf Tournament will be played at
Desert Rose Golf Course located at 5483 Clubhouse Dr. (you can find the
directions on map quest).

Cost per player is $65.00 and includes, greens fees, cart fees, range
balls, and contests. The entry fee is non refundable but is
transferable. Each entrant is requested to bring a prize. It need not
be expensive or of a golf nature. Fess must be paid one week in advance
unless arrangements are made with the tournament director.

Tee time is 9 am. Plan to arrive by 8:30 for cart assignments, range
time and tee prizes.

There will be refresment carts on the course with drinks and snacks at
the usual golf course cost. Please remember to make a modest tip to the
cart personel as we have a great relationship with the people at the
course and wish to keep it this way. The course does not allow any
outside beverages or food. If you must have your favorite scotch with
you please keep it well hidden and bribe me with a shot.

You must supply your own clubs or rent from the clubhouse. No sharing
of a set of clubs is allowed according to course rules. Only 2 players
per cart and only 2 bags per cart. All players will use carts.

The format will be stroke play with no handicap adjustment. The Rules
of Golf will apply with the following exceptions.

1. In the event a group falls one half hole behind they will require
short or errant shots to be picked up and dropped within one clublength
of any other players corresponding shot with a one stroke penality.

2. Struggling golfers may elect to allow one shot per each nine to be
played by any member of their group. Struggling golfer to be defined as
anyone who is 10 or more storkes behind the low score in their group.
Any golfer may also pick up and drop within one clublength of another
players corresponding shot with a one stroke penality at anytime.

Dress will be fem approiate golf attire. No short shorts, no thin strap
halter tops. Exceptions may be requested for SO's or non TG guests.
Requests for exceptions must be received by the tournament directior at
least one week prior to the event. The course is a spikeless course and
low impact sports shoes are allowed.

All play will be from the front (ladies) tees.

We will try to arrange for you to play with your friends. Please note
in your sign up if you have a preferance of playing partners. I am
already set with a cart partner however the 2nd cart in my group is
still up for grabs.

Handicap carts. I will be playing with a handicap flag on my cart due
to some health problems. If you have a medical need for a handicap flag
on your cart please let me know ASAP.

Bathrooms. Out on the course use either one. In the clubhouse if you
use the fem facilities please use fem decorum. Last year we had one or
more players stand and pee in the womens bathroom and we almost got a
future ban on the fem facilities at the course. We are playing as
ladies please act as ladies.

Ok enough rules. Now for the fun stuff. Since it is a shotgun start we
should all finish up pretty close to the same time.

We will have a short awards and drinks get together in the clubhouse
following the round. If everybody brings a prize every one will get a
prize. Prizes will be by a blind draw so you could have the worst round
and the best prize. I am working on donations for prizes for long
drive, long putt, closet to pin, low score, high score and maybe some
mystery prizes.

Of course the tiera is up for grabs for low score this year. If you
know of a biz that would like to donate a special prize to the event
please have them contact me. We are also looking for tee prizes and
group prizes. Again we do not expect donations from players for these
but again if you know of a biz that would like to donate then get them
in touch with me.

We would also like to have a couple of non players out on the course to
take photos. If it works out I may be able to arrange for a cart for
the paparatzi LOL. Others who would just like to watch the tournament
can be there for the tee offs and the finish and for a small fee rent a
cart to follow along.

If all goes well as it has in the past we should be done with the golf
and the after golf activities by around 2:30 or 3 leaving plenty of time
to get ready for the major events on thursday night.

The above subject to change with weather attitude and gas prices LOL.

Q&A:

>what exactly do you mean by "real and bookable" air fares?

This means that these fares are actually available and that you can
actually book a ticket at those prices. This is as opposed to "as low
as" come-ons or "teaser" fares that for all purposes are not really
available.
. . . . .

A number of similar questions have come in over the past few weeks
asking how it's possible to find out if there are others coming to DLV
from their home area and if it's possible to get in touch with them.

The best way to do this is to post a brief note on the DLV Discussion
Forum at: http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/dlv2004/dlvdisc/

This way others can see your query and respond if they are from the
same area and would like to get in touch.

Most of you do read the DLV Discussion Forum, right? :) :)
. . . . .

>I've been reading various reviews on different travel sites about the V
>show, and some of them say that the M&M store has two-for-one ticket
>purchase coupons. Can someone look into this?

Several discounts and promotions for "V" do exist.

Yes, there are some two-fer coupons out there. They appear in various
coupon books, in piles at activity desks, may occasionally appear in
tourist magazines, etc. That's the good news.

The bad news is that these are only good for run-of-the-house general
admission seating with one full-price paid admission. They aren't good
for first-floor or VIP seats, and they can't be combined with other
discounts, such as the DLV discount. There may be other conditions as
well.

If anybody wants to take the effort to chase these coupons down, doesn't
mind the nosebleed section, and doesn't care about sitting with the DLV
group, yes, this may be an option for you in addition to the several
options that were announced recently.

There may be other options as well for those who have the time to do
some legwork.

There are two discount ticket operations on the south Strip. They tell
me (the ubiquitous "they") that one of these frequently has deep
discount "V" tickets a few hours prior to the performance. Finding out
which one has the "V" tickets and if they are available for May 6 will
be an exercise for the student. :)

If you have a few hours to kill and don't mind sitting through some
incredibly obnoxious high-pressure sales drek, many timeshare promoters
will reward you with a pair of tickets to any of several shows,
including "V" in many cases. Don't worry about finding these guys,
they will find you. :)

Ticket brokers, such as Allstate Ticketing, which have desks in many
major hotels and sell tickets to just about any show in town will all
have "V" tickets. Most of the time these places charge list price, or
even list plus a service fee, but occasionally these firms do have some
deep-discount specials.

Glamour Boutique update:

John (Glamour Boutique) writes:

+Amy (resident makeup artist) will be using the new silicone airbrush
+spray for the foundation in her makeovers. I have seen this spray in
+action and it does a great job at creating a smooth texture over the
+skin.

+As always we will be looking forward to seeing our Diva Las Vegas
+friends. I think you will all be impressed by our new staff members as
+well as the new look of the store.

+We will also be working on a bunch of Diva Las Vegas specials which we
+will update you all on later.

Thanks for the update, John. We look forward to Glamour Boutique's
participation in DLV.

during DLV week. Glamour Boutique appears on the web at:

Corset workshop update:

Here's an update to the Bad Attitude Boutique corset workshop, which will
happen Friday afternoon during DLV.

Tushell writes:

+The corset workshop is on and all day we will be showing people how to
+get themselves in and out of corsets, doing fittings and in honor of
+the DLV request there will be no charge. We will also be having a 20%
+off sale all week as well! There will also be on hand that day a local
+nurse from a hair removal salon giving knowledge and advice.

Thanks, Tushell.

Just to clarify, "no charge" means no charge for the workshop, not no
charge for the corsets. :) :)
