Numbers and expectations:

Headcount projection now sits at 148 total, which is about as
close an estimate as we can get at this time. This will be
updated as we get closer to the event.

One thing about numbers, you will never see the entire group
at any one place at any one time. People will be coming and
going throughout DLV week.

The two largest gatherings will be the Welcome Celebration on
Monday, and the Farewell Dinner on Saturday of DLV week.

Golf details:

As posted on the activity list tee time is Wed at 9:00 am.

Plan to arrive by 8:30 to get cart assignments and warm up.
Price again is $45.00 and includes greens fees, carts, and
range balls. Payment must be received by the golf course
by April 13th unless arrangements are made with me (Mindy)
in advance. They have a new general manager so the final
list has to be in by the 13th and no cancelations can be
accepted after that date.

The course is Desert Rose where we have played for the last
several years. When you register with the course make sure
you give both your male and fem name so we can do cart
assignments in advance. Please bring a prize so everyone
wins a prize. The rules for the tournament are in the archives.

Let me know as soon as you register so I can keep an up to date
list.

Activity sign-up:

We've had a few questions about activity sign-up. Here are the
details.

Activity sign-up begins in about two weeks. For those who have
never done this, this is where you tell us which of the many
optional activities you want to do.

In order to get in on the first round of activity sign-up, you
must hold a validated registration as of March 31.

As a reminder, please be sure your arrival and departure
dates on your registration are correct. You will not be able
to sign up for anything prior to your arrival or after your
departure. You can update these using the link that was
sent to you right after you registered. If you misplaced this,
write in, we will resend to you.

Everybody should look over our schedule and get an idea of
which activities appeal to you so you can have an idea of
what you want to sign up for.

Many of our activities are "no sign-up, just show up" and for
these, you don't have to sign up or anything. All you need to
do is be there.

For some of them, however, we need such a thing as a headcount
or a commitment to attend. This is where activity sign-up
comes in.

On or about April 1, each validated attendee will receive a
special e-mail with a link to their own personal activity
sign-up screen.

This screen will list the optional activities for which any
kind of a sign-up, headcount, or hoop-jump is required or
requested, along various other information about each
activity.

In most cases you can change your mind and update this
screen at any time.

For activities with limited capacity, it's first-signed,
first served in most cases. (In some cases, it may be
first-paid, first served.) Most activities which fill
will have the option of a waiting list, as there will
always be some cancellations, changes, and no-shows.

As of this time, the only activities which are expected
to fill to capacity are the Night Of The Soiled Doves on
Tuesday and the Limo Tour on Thursday.

Getting to the activities:

This concern came up in a recent off-line exchange, and it was
suggested to clarify this here, as some others of you may have
similar concerns.

Yes, our activities happen all over the area. Most of the
attendees either drive or catch a ride with another attendee
who is driving. We'll send out a ride-share list of volunteer
drivers and those who need rides with the Large Final Mailing.
(Please note that such shared rides are at the riders' own
risk.)

The Large Final Mailing will include the exact venue locations
with the physical street address, plus a map of the area with
locations marked. If you need turn-by-turn directions, you
can ask in advance, or phone any of our DLV contact people
(phone numbers will be in the Large Final Mailing) and they
will "talk you in" kind of like air traffic control. :)

Some of our people will take the Monorail (to some of the
activities) or use a taxi. A taxi is very "safe" to use,
even for beginners. The driver will not dare jeopardize the
tip by making fun of or showing hostility toward a rider!

Exact instructions on what to tell a taxi driver will be
on the final schedule in the Large Final Mailing.

Very picky minor point of clarification:

Yeah, I know this is picky-picky, but there are many variations
being heard out there, and it's been mentioned by a few of the
organizers now ...

The correct name of our event is:

"Diva Las Vegas"

Three words.

"Diva" Singular, non-possessive, four letters, no "s" at all.

"Las Vegas" Two words, both capitalized.

"Of" does not appear in the name of the event at all. Neither
does "the", and we don't prefix it with "A" to get the top
listing in the phone book. :)

It was intended as a word play on the Elvis' "Viva Las Vegas"
song and film title.
