Only 108 days left, gang!

home.com users:

We're having a lot of failed mail to home.com addresses. Yes, I know of
their problems. If you know somebody who has (had) a home.com address
who is supposed to be receiving this list but is not, please remind
him/her to submit a new e-mail address.

Golf:

The Third Annual Diva Las Vegas Open is scheduled for Friday, May 3.

Location has not been decided yet. Either boymode or girlmode will be
fine for golf.

Some very nice prizes are planned.

We will be starting up a separate "DLVGOLF" mailing list in the near
future for those who want to be included in the planning and the
participation of this. If you want to golf, or if you just want to
keep informed as to what is going on, please do one of the following:

1. Reply to this mailing and say something to the effect of "add me
to the golf list" ...

2. Send a brief e-mail to: dlvgolf@geekbabe.com with the word "Subscribe"
either in the subject or on the first line of the message.

For those who were on the DLVGOLF list last year, you will remain on it
unless your address has changed. A test message will be sent to the
list, with a notice here, before the list is activated.

Any significant matters on the golf list will be summarized here.

Meals:

>How many meals are included? Your Web Sight didn't say.

That depends on what you mean by "included". :)

Since the registration fee is zero, zero meals will be paid for by your
registration $$$. :)

(at least) Four group dining events are planned, for Tuesday, Wednesday,
Friday, and Sunday evenings.

There's also a proposal for a daily group breakfast, but I'm not sure
how certain that will be.

Hotel warnings:

1. Vacation Village, which is often a bottom-dollar selection of online
travel agencies, has closed, possibly temporarily while a gaming license
dispute is resolved. Some services are still booking reservations for
this. A local person said this was closed with very short notice this
week, leaving guests out on the street, literally.

2. From a conversation late last year ...

Bottom line: Travelocity (and some others, maybe) are booking rooms for
Buffalo Bill's in Primm, Nevada as local to Las Vegas. I just checked
the Travelocity website, and they are showing it as "3.5 miles from the
search point" which is grossly in error. This place is a good 30 miles
away, down by the California state line.

This is probably a database error on their part, but be warned. There are
three places in Primm, Buffalo Bill's, Whiskey Pete's, and Primm Valley
Resort. All are same management, and actually nice, but one heck of a
drive from the center of the action.

Las Vegas Clubwear:

>I'm sure you won't want to print this,

Huh? Why wouldn't I want to do this? This may not be for me, but others
might be interested in it. :)

>but there is a new store that looks interseting. Las Vegas Clubwear.
>It's on Las Vegas Blvd just opposite the Mandalay Bay Casino right
>next to Leonard's Wide Shoes. They have some cute and sexy stuff.
>Anyway, I thought the girls might be interested.

Seriously, if this place is t-friendly, please let me know and I'll add
it to the list on the web. Have you (or anybody) actually shopped there?
If so, what does their attitude appear to be?
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Height:

>>>It is my height, and with heels, heaven help the doorway!
<snip>

>>Remember that women (both GG and TG) come in all shapes and sizes,
>>including yours.

>In fact, we have many very tall girls at DLV. Quite few over 6' and
>some over 6' 2". I have to wear 4" spikes just to avoid the feeling of
>shrinking. :-)

>Because tall women always attract attention, DLV girls in a group do
>often get noticed. That's an advantage of the "safety in numbers" our
>DLV group activities provides.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Cheapest:

>I would love to join you, but I need to know what the absolute
>cheapest place to stay is. I don't care if it;s not nice. I
>can't afford %50.00 per day. Thanks in advance.

Be careful what you ask for! <semi grin>

I'm assuming you don't have any gaming history, since comp (free) or
reduced rate rooms are available to regular players at almost all
major casino-hotels.

The absolute lowest in price (and probably quality) that I know of is
the Western Hotel downtown, but PLEASE DON'T EVEN >>THINK<< OF STAYING
THERE unless you have far more guts than brains. No, I am not kidding.
We've discussed this place here just about every year. They do have some
(deceptive) ads that have attracted our peoples' attention.

It's $16 per night and overpriced, imao. If you are >>really<< gutsy,
you can read a review of it at:

http://www.cheapovegas.com/western.html

For Cheapovegas to call it a "bona-fide dump" sums it up.

Here are your options if you're on a very tight budget:

1. A better, but still low-ball room downtown.

The Gold Spike downtown is better, $20-ish on weekdays, but still a
semi-rathole. The El Cortez and the Plaza downtown are $30-ish, iirc,
and better but not the Ritz by any means.

2. Share a room. With two to a room, you can get a nice room cheaper
than one person in a dump. With three in a room, you can get a *very*
nice room very reasonably.

For information on room sharing, look at last Sunday's mailing. URL is
below.

3. One of the casino hosts may have some promotional rates for two of
the hotels we are recommending. I'm gonna make a query for some numbers
this week and I will report back.

4. Some of the "extended stay" places like Homestead and Budget Suites
have some very attractive weekly rates. If you don't have a vehicle,
these may not be the best option, since they tend to not have such
things as restaurants and casinos on the property.

5. Check http://www.bigempire.com/vegas/sleepcheap.html for some tips on
cheap places to stay.

Early:

>Holy smokes!! I just realized that DLV 2002 starts early this year on
>April 30, which is now less than 4 months away!!!!

Yes, we are rapidly approaching that 100 day mark!

>I gotta buy some new clothes and start dieting. Time to start
>wardrobe planning!

Uh, you mean you haven't already? :)

>And to all DLV girls: Don't forget that Blonde Hair Day is DLV Day 2 on
>May 1. Start shopping for those wigs or practicing with the hair tint.
>Turn back to the light side. And for attitude lessons, required video
>viewing includes "Legally Blonde" now at video rental stores everywhere.

For those who have recently joined or haven't been keeping up, Blonde
Hair NIGHT <g> will be Wednesday evening, where everybody is encouraged
to be blonde for the evening activities. (Hey, if anything, it will make
a great photo-op.)

Blonde hair will be encouraged, but not mandatory, that evening.

>Potential DLV 02 motto: DLV 02 - Enjoy being a girl again.

Uh, have we ever stopped? :)

T-shirts:

Those returning from DLV 2001 are eligible to receive one of the DLV 2001
commemorative t-shirts. These will have the DLV logo in the color scheme
shown on the DLV 2002 main page at:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/dlv2002/

If you would like to receive one of these, please reply to this mailing
giving the following information:

1. Your name {obviously}

2. Desired size. Please give me your usual adult t-shirt size (like S,
M, L, etc.) and your dress size (like 14, 16, etc.), since I use two
suppliers for these who size differently.

These must be picked up in person at DLV 2002.

Also, for this year, I'll be making another run of both the DLV 1999 and
the DLV 2000 commemorative shirts. If you attended in either 1999 and/or
2000 and have not received one, yes you can still get them. (Michelle,
are you listening here? <bfg>) Hit REPLY if you attended and have not
received one.

The 1999 shirts have a cream background and a black/blue logo, the 2000
shirts have a fuschia background and a blue/brown logo.

Again, these must be picked up in person at DLV 2002.
