DLV 2005 dates:

No objections or negative comments regarding the April 24-30 timeframe
for DLV 2005 were received during the Call For Comments period.

Therefore, the dates for DLV 2005 will be Sunday, April 24 thru
Saturday, April 30, 2005.

These have now been marked on the web site as final.

I hope these are acceptable to those who plan to attend.

I would like to thank everybody for the smooth timeframe selection
process this year. :)

Hotel comments requested:

In December we will be announcing our suggested hotels for DLV 2005. As
always, there's no requirement that you stay in any paricular hotel in
order to attend DLV. However, we've always suggested one or more hotels
for those who aren't familiar with Las Vegas hotels and for those who
want to stay in proximity to others attending DLV.

In the ORG group we've entertained an idea of having one designated
"Event Hotel" which would be the one hotel that we would suggest above
all others for DLV 2005 attendees.

Comments and feedback regarding this idea are requested. You may either
reply to this mailing or enter comments on the DLV Discussion Forum at

Golf feedback requested:

Although we're still almost 8 months away from DLV, we're already making
tentative plans regarding our day-to-day schedule. The way it looks,
some of our more popular activities, or something similar, will be
repeated on the same day of the week.

We need some feedback regarding golf. Two days (morning-afternoon) have
been mentioned as possibilities for golf, those being Wednesday and
Thursday. (Golf was Thursday during DLV 2004.) If you have any
preference for either day, or any other golf comments, please reply to
this mailing and let them be known.

Pinkfest:

If you liked DLV, you might also like Pinkfest, this coming October
(that's next month!) in Chicago. It's another vacation, not a
convention.

DLV attendees will definitely see some familiar faces! :)

San Remo (Hooters) news:

Several news stories broke the week of August 16 reporting of a joint
venture between the current owners/managers of the San Remo Hotel and
Casino, where many DLV people have stayed since 2003, and Hooters. In
this deal, the San Remo will be rebranded Hooters, renovated, expanded,
and officially rolled out in late 2005.

A write-up of the deal appears in the {Las Vegas Review-Journal}:

http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/2004/Aug-18-Wed-2004/business/24559521.html

(I hope the URL is clickable for most of you, it may wrap and require some
cutting and pasting. It's in the Business section of the Aug 18 issue.)

As of this time it's uncertain whether this deal will have any affect on
any DLV activities or accommodations. The report stated that the San
Remo will remain open during the renovation and conversion.

An initial report from some of our local people told of a very positive
reception when one of the members of the party went there wearing a
Hooters shirt. :)

We will be announcing our suggested DLV 2005 hotels this coming December.
