DLV 2005 attendee survey:

The DLV 2005 follow-up survey is now on line. If you attended DLV 2005,
please take a few minutes and let us know how things went for you.

This is one of the most valuable things we have for following up on the
current year's event and planning next year's event.

This includes a section where you can vote on the DLV 2005 Entertainer
Of The Year, and we've had several nominations for this, more than in
any previous year.

Please do not give out this URL to anybody who has not attended DLV

Everybody who appears in these photos has a reasonable number of
"vetoes" of any photos in which they appear in a recognizable
likeness. Here's the way this works ...

If you see a photo in which you appear which you do not want posted on
the final DLV follow-up pages, please send in the following in a brief
e-mail to dlv@geekbabe.com ...

1. Your name (obviously).

2. The exact file name (following the last slash in the URL) of the
photos to delete or alter. (Things like "third from the right in the
fifth row" will not work, since different browsers display the
thumbnails differently.)

3. If there are multiple people in the photos, which one you are.

These vetoes can't be used for group photos for which you willingly
posed. (Unless the image is very very very bad, of course.) :) :) :)

All veto notes that were received by Saturday afternoon have been
processed.

Call For Photographs continues:

Thanks to all who have sent in photos. Some are up now, others will be
posted shortly, and more are on the way.

After each DLV we make some follow-up web pages consisting of (hundreds
of, in recent years) photographs of the year's event. Here's the way
this works:

1. We invite attendees to send in their photos. That's what we're doing
right now.

2. We place the photos on line in a temporary staging area. We then give
the attendees an opportunity to view them, and everybody gets a
reasonable number of "NO WAY" options on the photos in which they
appear.

3. We then make up the final web pages for the year's event.

We are now inviting everybody to send in their photos, either digital
images or hard copies.

Here are a few guidelines:

* The more the better. No, we can't promise that everything you send in
will be used on the final pages, but they more you send in, the better
the overall view of DLV 2005 will be.

* Any reasonably sane format. Of course, jp(e)g files with a reasonable
quality setting are preferred, but .gif, .bmp, .tiff, .png, or anything
else within reason is acceptable. If you wanna zip 'em or tar 'em, do
it, but it's not necessary.

* The bigger the better, within reason. Original size if possible.
Bandwidth is cheap, the images are priceless. The web server has
utilities to normalize these to consistent size and contrast.

* Anything altered, faked, captioned, with a blurred face, blacked-out
eyes, or cut off head will not be used. Those are worse than no photo at
all, IMAO, that is. :)

You can get these to us by any of the following methods:

1. FTP. This is the simplest, easiest, and quickest way of getting your
pictures to us. If you have a Windows-based PC and some kind of a
network connection, you already have everything you need for this. If
you wish to use this method, please e-mail dlv@geekbabe.com for the
host/login/password information plus very explicit instructions for
uploading your photos.

2. File attach via e-mail. PLEASE DO NOT SEND TO THE DLV LIST ADDRESS,
AS IT CANNOT RECEIVE BINARY ATTACHMENTS. Send the photos using any of
the standard methods to annie@annie.net

3. Floppy disc or CDROM via snailmail. Send e-mail for the street
address to send these to. If you want them back, I will return.

4. Hardcopy prints via snailmail. Again, send e-mail for the street
address to send these to. I'll get them scanned and returned to you.
