June-July updates:

Welcome and welcome back!

This is the first of the monthly updates regarding our progress toward
DLV 2005. For the rest of the year 2004, you can expect one mailing, a
monthly update, per month, except in special cases of very important or
time-critical information.

Several DLV 2004 follow-up pages are now on line at the URL:

This includes some new ones that were just placed on line during the
past week or so.

The preliminary planning has already started as far as DLV 2005
activities are concerned.

Some sure-fire winners will be repeated, such as:

* Night Of The Soiled Doves II (expanded)
* Limo Tour
* Lake Mead Boat Cruise
* Art Tour
* Golf (possibly 2 sessions)
* Daily lunch (with or without Ginger)

And, some new ideas have been brought forward, including:

* 4x4 trip to the desert
* Death Valley Tour
* Ballroom Dancing
* Eating Out Night
* Indoor skydiving
* Side trip to Laughlin
* Daily walk-off-your-lunch (with or without Ginger) :)

And, if you have some ideas for activities that you think the DLV group
would like to do, please speak up. Just e-mail dlv@geekbabe.com or reply
to this mailing.

We're also planning to send out more information sooner about what to
wear for our activities, general fashion suggestions, notes about the
weather and fashion options, etc.

Dates for DLV 2005:

During the next month, the ORG group will vote on the proposed dates for
DLV 2005. These will be announced as tentative in the July-August DLV
general mailing.

During August, a one-month Call For Comments will be open, and barring
any serious issues, the dates will be announced as final on the first
of September.

Comments may be made either via e-mail to dlv@geekbabe.com or in the
DLV Discussion Forum, which is on the web at:

Although it's still very premature to announce anything, one timeframe
that does have quite a bit of support in the ORG group is that of
Sunday, April 24 thru Saturday, April 30, 2005.

Your input is encouraged. You now have two months to let your thoughts
and feelings be known.

As far as the usual conflicts, Easter is early this year, in March, far
away from our timeframe. Laughlin River Run occurs one week prior to DLV.
Mothers Day is May 8, and as most of you know we are now enjoined from
scheduling any DLV activities on Mothers Day or on the two days prior.

A DLV directory reminder:

For those of you who have copies of the DLV 2004 e-mail directory, please
remember that it is expressly forbidden to use this for any kind of bulk
mailing, in particular any unsolicited commercial e-mail.

Use it, don't abuse it! It's a list of pen-pals, not sales leads!

We want our people to be able to put their addresses in this directory
without any concern that the addresses will be misused.

Please use addresses in that directory only for individual personal
e-mail of a noncommercial nature.

Pinkfest 2004 in October:

One big problem with DLV is that it happens only once a year.

However, there's been something else going on for the past several years
in the fall, just about opposite DLV on the calendar.

That is Pinkfest! :)

If you liked DLV, chances are you'll also like Pinkfest!

Pinkfest 2004 is scheduled from Thursday, October 21 thru Sunday, October
24, 2004, in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

Although Pinkfest is organizationally independent from DLV, it's another
"Vacation Not Convention", and yes, Pinkfest was started by some of the
same people who first had the idea for what became DLV. Like DLV, the
activities for Pinkfest occur in a mixture of mainstream and alternative
venues.

If you attended DLV in recent years, yes, you will certainly see some
familiar faces (and some new ones too) at Pinkfest.

Pinkfest is not as large, and not as long as DLV, but it's a lot of fun!
