This mailing:

Unless something extraordinary happens, this will be the last
general mailing associated with DLV 2008. You can expect the
next mailing to be around the first of August, when the proposed
dates for DLV 2009 are announced and a Call For Comments period
begins, prior to the dates being final.

Results of the DLV 2008 attendee survey have been posted in the
DLV Discussion Forum, which is on line at:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/dlvdisc/

As was expected, this year's DLV was again very highly rated
by most of the attendees who took the survey.

We would like a few more details, if possible, on a few of your
answers. Please see item below.

Thanks again to all, volunteers and attendees, who did their
part to make DLV 2008 what it was!

Volunteers:

All who answered the Call For Volunteers should have now received
the introductory mailing to the DLVORG mailing list.

If you volunteered and you did not receive this message, please
let us know. Just reply to this message and say so.

Yes, you can still volunteer! If you would like to do your part
to make a good thing even better, just raise your hand (or reply
to this message) and say so!

Questions to all:

The DLV 2008 attendee survey gave us a lot of answers, but this
year it also gave us some questions, of which we would like a
bit more detail.

We would like detailed answers, if possible, to the following
questions. You may either simply reply to this mailing, in which
case your responses will not appear in public, or post your
responses on the DLV Discussion Forum at the URL:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/dlvdisc/

Your further details will be most valuable.

Thanks in advance! :)
. . . . .

1. There were a number of responses which indicated that some
of our people were not satisfied with two of our suggested hotels,
specifically the Sahara and the St. Tropez. The ratings this year
most definitely slipped from previous years.

What was it, specifically, about these two hotels that resulted
in your dissatisfaction?
. . .

2. Along a similar line, we saw some comfort ratings of "Very
Uncomfortable" for Palace Station and Paris.

What was it, specifically, about these two hotels, which
contributed to your uncomfortable feelings?
. . .

3. One location which appeared to be one of the favorite eating
and drinking places for DLV 2008 was Blyss, a quite new club and
restaurant. Nobody seems to remember hearing anything bad about
it.

However, the enjoyment rating for Wednesday Eating Out Night at
Blyss was significantly lower than the other Wednesday Eating
Out Night venues, and lower than the subsequent two activities
at Blyss on Friday and Saturday.

Was there anything, specifically, about this venue which you,
anyone, did not like? Blyss is high on the list for being used
for multiple activities next year. If there's something we need
to know, please let us know it.
. . .

4. This was the first year recently when we did not provide
turn-by-turn driving directions from the major hotels to the
venues.

Feedback indicated more difficulty finding some of our venue
locations this year than last year.

Do you want or need the turn-by-turn directions to our
activity venues?

This is a very "high-maintenance" item, but we will provide
this if it's definitely needed.

If you want to see this resumed, please say so.
. . .

Next, a couple of related questions regarding mainstream
venues.

To introduce this topic, this year for each of the evenings, we
had at least one activity option which was in a mainstream
(meaning it's intended for the general public as opposed to the
GLBT community) venue.

The answers to the question about mainstream/alternative venues
on the survey were somewhat surprising, in light of the large
number of mainstream activities on the schedule.

+Would you prefer more activities be in mainstream venues, or
+more in discreet or secluded or alternative venues?

+I would prefer more secluded venues.: 6
+I would prefer more mainstream venues.: 26
+I think the balance was about right.: 51

The majority says the balance is about right, but a significant
minority indicated they would like more mainsream venues.

These next questions are directed primarily to those who are
not those on record as being outspoken on this issue. We would
like some "rank and file" feedback on this, please.

5. Are some mainstream venues we used this year (Blue Ox, Chicken
Ranch, Bahama Breeze, Milano's, Alexis Park) somehow being
perceived as being more "alternative" than they are mainstream?

5a. Is there (still) a feeling that DLV is "not mainstream enough"
and if so, in what way?

5b. Is this to mean that you, the attendees, think that the number
of mainstream-venue activities is inadequate?
. . .

Large maximum-attendance functions are always asked for. This year
we had two very successful one, but we didn't get everybody. Some
were obviously absent from one or both.

6. For those of you who were in town on Monday and/or Saturday of
DLV week and skipped either the Welcome Celebration or Bahama
Breeze, what would it be that would make you more likely to attend
either or both of these functions?
. . .

7. The answers on the survey question regarding the Big Sister
program indicated that a few who participated, both as Big Sisters
and Little Sisters did not have a positive experience.

Nora, our Big Sister Coordinator, is concerned about this and asks
for details about any other-than-positive experiences as either a
Big Sister or a Little Sister.

If you participated in the Big Sister program this year and did
not have a positive experience, please write to Nora, in confidence,
directly at: cadnild@aol.com

Thanks, your further feedback will be appreciated!

Pinkfest dates:

Pinkfest, another "Vacation Not a Convention" will happen in
Chicago from Thursday, October 23 thru Sunday, October 26.

Pinkfest is quite a bit smaller than DLV, but it's still a
lot of fun. Like DLV, Pinkfest uses a mix of both mainstream
and alternative venues.

Although Pinkfest is independent from DLV, it grew from the same
roots, and yes, if you attend Pinkfest you'll see some familiar
faces.

Pinkfest appears on the web at:

http://www.pinkmyst.com/pinkfest/

To join the Pinkfest mailing list (discreet and spam-free), just
send e-mail to: pinkfest@pinkmyst.com and say you want to be
added to the list.

There's also the Pinkfest Yahoo group, which mirrors the content
of the Pinkfest mailing list. It's on the web at:

the Las Vegas area which are of interest to the TG community.

This is on line at:

Most of the vendors and facilities we used for DLV 2008 are
listed here, and it's easy to add your ratings and comments
for any of them. We would appreciate it if you would take a
few minutes and rate any which you patronized.
