Final DLV 2013 wrap-up:
Most everyone agrees that Diva Las Vegas 2013 was an outstanding
success!
Big thanks go out to the volunteers who planned and implemented the
event, and to everyone who participated and made the event what it
was!

DLV 2013 survey results:
The results of the DLV 2013 Attendee and Non-Attendee Surveys are

As expected, the 2013 event was rated very highly. Several comments
have been received and additional comments are welcome.
The non-attendee survey was very helpful as well, and it gave us
valuable insight into why some did not attend.

Total headcount:
Our DLV 2013 total headcount, still subject to revision, stands at 166.
This consists of 137 primary attendees and 29 SOs.
It's not a record, but about a 9% increase in total attendance from
our 2012 event. The level of participation in our activities is up
from 2012 as well.

DLV Volunteer Group:
Over the next week or so we'll be forming the new "ORG Group" of
volunteers for the DLV 2014 season.
Everyone who volunteered by filling out the volunteer form or by
any of several other methods can expect an introductory message
during the coming week. Existing volunteers whose e-mail addresses
have not changed will not receive this. If you're a new volunteer
and do not receive the introductory message during the following
week, please e-mail dlvorg@geekbabe.com and let us know.
We're still open to new volunteers. Our ORG group is not a closed
or exclusive club. With rare exception it's open to anyone who wants
to be involved in the planning and running of our yearly event. If
you would like to volunteer, please go on line and answer a few
quesitons about exactly how you wish to be involved:

Call For Photos continues:
Everyone who attended DLV 2013 should have now received their link to
the photo staging area. If you attended and did not receive this, please
write in (just reply to this message) and explain the circumstances
Over 1000 photos have been posted in the staging area so far.
All photos which were received by last Wednesday evening have now been
posted for your review. All removal requests made by last Friday
evening have been processed.

Here are the ways you can submit photos:
1. By e-mail, attach using any sane method or format. Send photos to
the main DLV address: dlv@geekbabe.com
You may simply reply to this mailing and attach photos.
2. By FTP. Faster and cleaner than by e-mail. Please let us know
if you want to submit photos by FTP and we'll get you the login
credentials.
3. By snailmail. CDs, DVDs, floppies, thumb drive or hardcopy prints,
any sane format. If you want these back, please say so and we'll cover
the return postage. Write in for the mailing address.
4. Via the MyDLV Gallery. Upload them to your MyDLV Gallery and send
us a note that "Photos X Y and Z are intended for the main DLV pages"
or to that effect.

Now, as for size and format ...
We'll take them any way you want to send them, but a good sane
size would be around 800-1500 pixels on the long side, .jpg, medium
quality, 72dpi. We do have scripts to normalize the size, brightness,
and contrast.
Zip or tar files are not necessary. We'll take them that way if you
want to send them that way, but it's not required.

Pinkfest:
It seems like each year when DLV concludes, there's talk about how
nice it would be if we would have a "Mini DLV" about half-way between
our yearly DLV events.
Well, we have just that, and it's been going on for 13 years now!
It's not in Las Vegas, but in Chicago. Like the DLV that you know
and love, it's a "vacation, not a convention", and is a lot of fun!
It's called Pinkfest, and it grew from the same roots as DLV.
This year's Pinkfest will run from Wednesday, October 16, thru
Sunday, October 20, 2013.

Now we know what some of you are thinking. "But it's not Las Vegas!"
When you think about it, about the only thing that Las Vegas has
that Chicago doesn't have much of is casino gaming, and if that's
your priority, you can find it in Chicagoland if you look for it.
Everything else that made you fall in love with Diva Las Vegas is
there at Pinkfest, such as open-minded and accepting vendors and
venues, fun things to do, the upbeat but easy-going "party" atmosphere,
and fun-loving people to share your good times with!
And yes, if you've attended DLV, you're sure to see some familiar
faces.

Mailing list clean-up:
We're currently in the process of cleaning up our mailing lists and
removing the e-mail addresses which have shown no sign of recent
activity.
Those whose DLV mailing list subscriptions will be expiring should
have received a notice in e-mail. Those who have not responded will
receive a brief reminder, and those who do not explicitly ask to
be retained on the list will be unsubscribed during the first week
of June.
If you wish to remain on our mailing list, you do not need to do
anything unless you receive the Subscription Confirmation e-mail
within the next week or so.
If you've already responded to the Subscription Confirmation e-mail,
you're all set. You'll be kept on the list.
If there are any questions or concerns about DLV e-mail subscriptions,
please let us know.

Things to come:
We're in our "slow season" now, wrapping up from the recent event and
doing some housekeeping behind the scenes.
Our Call For Photos is ongoing. Plans are to keep this open until
about the third week in June.
The final DLV 2013 follow-up pages will appear on line in September,
but as of this time we don't know the exact day, hour, minute, or
second that they will appear.
The dates for Diva Las Vegas 2014 will be set in the autumn of 2013.
There will be a one-month Call For Comments on the proposed dates
before they become final. Watch your inbox toward late summer!
In October we have Pinkfest. See notice above.
In early December, we'll be announcing our suggested hotels for DLV
2014 and re-registration for returnees will open around the first
of the year.
