This is the last general mailing to this list. We will be sending out
the large annual mailing as noted below, plus it looks like there will
be a special edition of this list sometime this coming week.

Yes, I know this one is long, but I would like to ask everybody to give
it a good look-over since it contains a lot of important and some
misunderstood items.

Next Sunday's mailing will be strictly last-minute, catch-up, and any
other items that have to be sent out prior to DLV.

Last-minute registration:

No, it is not too late to sign up, but travel and hotels will not be at
the best prices, and some of our more popular activities are already
full.

There is no registration fee. If you will be arriving after Wednesday
and want to attend the LaFemme show or go on the limo tour, advance

A few mail issues:

In manually looking over some of the responses and non-responses, a few
issues have come up, mostly having to do with typos in e-mail addresses
and changed e-mail addresses.

I've tried to clean these up manually as best I can. In one case, I found
one person registered twice, with three variations of the e-mail address
on the mailing list and two on the registrations.

In another case a strange nonobvious typo on the registration caused
the headcount e-mails to be blackholed.

There are still a number of people who registered and have not answered
the activity signup, despite three personal notices and ad nauseam
reminders in this list.

Here is a list of those cancelled last Friday for non-response to three
notices to be counted for activities. I've obfuscated the e-mail
addresses. If you appear to be on this list, and are still interested
in attending DLV, it is imperative that you contact us immediately.

Large final mailing:

This coming Wednesday, April 24, those who have registered will receive
a large mailing, which will include:

* Final detailed schedule of activities, with times, locations, etc.

* Explicitly detailed driving directions to each activity.

* Link to a map of actvity locations, details, photos of venues.

* General dress guidelines and specific suggestions for each activity.

* Instructions for shipping clothing (and anything else).

* Lists of volunteer drivers and those needing rides.

* Tina's famous "Drinking En Femme" treatise.

* Lots of misc. hints and notes.

Deadlines and cutoffs:

We're just one week and two days from DLV 2002. Time is getting tight if
you want to still get in on things. Here's a summary of deadlines that are
fast approaching:

(In chronological order)

Wednesday, April 24, is the deadline for advance payment for LaFemme
tickets. See prior mailings for details.

Wednesday, April 24, 5:00pm CDT is the deadline for driver/rider
sign-ups or updates via the DLV registration page.

Saturday, April 27, 6:00pm CDT, is the deadline for all material to be
included in our regular mailings prior to DLV.

Sunday, April 28, 1:00am CDT, is the deadline for all sign-ups and
changes to activities via the web. (That clickable link you received in
e-mail.) Changes after that date must be made in person at DLV.

Monday, April 29, 1:00am CDT, is the cutoff for regular DLV registration
via the web. Those registering after will receive "last minute
instructions" which will allow participation in some DLV activities.

Tuesday, April 30, 8:00am CDT is the cutoff for all DLV e-mail that
reqires a response prior to DLV. All mail received after will be held
until after DLV.

Wednesday, May 1, (at any DLV activity) is the deadline for cancellation
and for payment for the Limo Tour. Those on the waiting list will be
informed Thursday if space is available. More detail available in prior
mailings.

Thursday, May 2, 9:00am, is the cutoff for in-person payments for
LaFemme tickets and for cancellations. See prior mailings for details.

For those attending the wig styling instruction at the Hidden Woman
on Wednesday afternoon:

My first suggestion is that no matter where you choose, you IMMEDIATELY
book your reservations, even if you have to adjust them later.

We are suggesting the Boardwalk, the Imperial Palace, and the Sahara for
our people, but you are free to stay anywhere.

At this late date, it may be helpful to phone a travel agent or use one
of the online agencies such as travelocity.com or hoteldiscounts.com.

If you have trouble finding a room, phone the Las Vegas Convention and
Visitors Authority at 1-877-VISITLV as they will know who has rooms
available and can act as an agent for some of them.

Reporting in:

No formal check-in is required. Just go to the first DLV activity
that is convenient for you, such as the Thursday dinner, Pre-DLV
get-together, etc. When you get to your first activity, ask to speak to
one of the DLV volunteers who is taking names. He/she will then mark you
on the list as present.

Bad Sahara review:

>I notice that the Sahara Hotel has bad reviews in Frommer's Guide. I

I've stayed at the Sahara twice now, each time being almost close to two
weeks.

The Sahara is not the newest property on the Strip, and it's far from
the flashiest and I admit it's not as trendy as some of the newer ones.

However, you can do much worse.

I would suggest that anybody who describes the Sahara as "dreary" book
an appointment with an optometrist as soon as possible.

I think it's actually closer to the Tunis Tower than the parking garage,
but yes, it is closer to the west side of the parking garage than it is
to, say, the Stratosphere tower.

As I think of some of the other places I've stayed in Las Vegas, the
pool is definitely near the parking garage in others as well, the Luxor
coming to mind immediately.

My advice is to save the $50.

IMAO, yes.

Probably a difference in opinion here. I suppose when you get paid to
write reviews of all the hoity-toity places like Bellagio, Mandalay Bay,
etc., the Sahara may not score as highly by comparison.

I would suspect that if you looked up such places as the Riviera, and
the Stardust, they would get very similar reviews to that of the Sahara.
All three are north-Strip legacy Old-Vegas casino-hotels. There are no
pirate ships, theme parks, white tigers, etc. All three do a very good
job of being very good Las Vegas casino-hotels.

That's cuz there isn't much bad about it. Yes, our people have been happy
with it since DLV 1999.

If you are expecting the Bellagio, you will be disappointed, but the
Sahara is clean, comfortable, reasonable, and fun.

Showgirls of Magic:

Although this is too late to put on the calendar as a DLV activity, this
may be an option some evening for those who are not doing the usual
stuff with the group.

"Tiny Bubbles" is now appearing in Showgirls Of Magic at the San Remo.
Those who are familiar with the La Cage and Boylesque shows will most
likely recognize Tiny immediately.
