Three weeks to DLV, gang! Everybody's getting excited, and most everything
is now ready to go.

We currently have 116 people, including SO's, on the reconfirmed list as
of this time.

If you have not registered yet, yes, there is still time to get in, but
remember, DLV 2004 registration closes Wednesday, April 28th, just 2 1/2
weeks from now. Depending on our final headcount projection, we may or
may not offer last-minute walk-in registration this year, so please be
sure to register in advance.

If you have not yet made your travel and lodging arrangements, please do
so without any further hesitation.

Prices are on the way up, and that critical 14 day in advance window for
airfare will soon run out. It appears that the bottom-dollar Southwest
fares are no longer available over the DLV period from places east of
the Rockies, and scarce from places such as Phoenix and LAX. America
West is still showing some real and bookable $200-ish fares from many
airports if booked 14 days in advance.

For those planning on arriving early and staying at the Sahara, Friday
and Saturday (April 30, May 1) are now up to $209 per day with $55 for
weekdays during DLV week. (Update: www.quikbook.com is currently showing
$45/76 for Sahara during DLV week.)

San Remo is $109 for the weekend just prior to DLV, with $55/90 during
DLV week.

Imperial Palace is sold out the weekend before DLV, $59/99 during DLV.
(Update: www.quikbook.com is showing IP at $54/90)

Stratosphere is $204 (OUCH!) per day the weekend prior to DLV, and
showing $54/94 during DLV.

SO's Luncheon:

Lee (Julieanne's SO) will be hostessing an informal SO's luncheon on
Thursday of DLV week at 1:00pm.

This will be held at the Crown And Anchor Pub, which is just east of
the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and Maryland Parkway. (Explicit
directions will be provided in the Large Final Mailing.)

This is an opportunity for SO's to get together in an informal and
congenial atmosphere away from the rat-race of DLV. :)

It's open to SO's only (meaning individuals, not couples) and open to
all SO's, male or female.

This is a no-sign-up-just-show up activity.

Please join me in thanking Lee for providing this opportunity for the
SO's to get together and get to know each other better.

Activity sign-up:

Everybody whose registrations were validated prior to last Friday
morning should have now received their activity sign-up mailing.

It's very important that you let us know if you have not received your
activity sign-up mailing.

Thanks to all who promptly filled these out. We now have about 80% of
the sign-ups in and accounted for.

If you think you should have received this but have not, please check
your "bulk", "junk", or "spam" folder, since some providers and software
are erroneously classifying these as spam.

If you still don't find it, write in (just reply to this mailing), we
will resend.

This mailing has a clickable link to your personal activity sign-up
screen.

Those who registered after about 0600 CDT this Friday will receive their
sign-up mailings this coming Monday.

If you have any difficulty signing up for activities, please let us
know. Just send e-mail to dlv@geekbabe.com for help. If you're not very
computer-savvy, please say so and we will bend over backwards to get you
signed up for what you want to do.

Please do not procrastinate in making your activity selections. Some of
the more popular activities are either full or close to full now.

Here's the current status of some:

Rhyolite trip: Full, waiting list short.
Hamburger Mary: Full, waiting list short.
NSD side trip: Full, see note below.
Hard Rock dinner: Full, waiting list short.
Limo tour: Full, see coordinators in person at DLV for availability.
Carluccio's dinner: Approaching full.

Most others still have plenty of space available.

Please don't get discouraged if some of the things you want to do show
full. There will be some cancellations and no-shows.

We will not overbook and "bump" later. Many of you who saw the "full"
sign at sign-up time will show confirmed on various activities on your
final itinerary in the Large Final Mailing. For example, the Limo Tour
has gone from full to space-available and back a couple times so far.

Limo Tour prepayment:

For those not arriving until Wednesday of DLV week, arrangements have now
been made to pay in advance for the Limo Tour, either via postal mail
or using Paypal.

The cutoff postmark date is April 22, 2004 for postal mail. Paypal can
be sent in up to Wednesday of DLV week.

Important Lake Mead Boat Cruise update:

Good Morning fellow Boat cruisers,

I've found a better price for the cruise. The contracted group rate for
the cruise would have been $16.15 + Park admission (per car). With the
coupon (that needs to be presented at boarding time) and the 2 for 1
coupon the rate pp is down to $10 + Park admission (per car).
Reservations are suggested.

Currently we have a guesstimated attendance of around 24. If I could
get 6 volunteers to call and make a reservation for 4; Those two for 1
reservations and my group of six people (2 for 1) would cover of group
of 22 for the price of 11.

if you are willing to make the reservation. I will cover 1/2 of the
costs of the 1st six reservations.

Garden Party:

Each regular mailing will feature one DLV 2004 activity in detail.

This week we feature Saturday's Garden Party.

This activity will take place from 11:00am until 3:00pm on Saturday,
of DLV week, and is a repeat of last year's highly successful party.

This will be held at Mindy's residence, and the address, a map, and very
detailed directions will be sent out in the large final mailing to all
who have registered for DLV.

Please join me in thanking Mindy for opening her house for this very
exciting activity. (In unison now, "Thanks, Mindy.") Mindy's neighbors
are very cool, and are aware of what is going on, so please don't be shy
about attending.

Although it starts at 11 and ends at 3, you can come when you want, and
leave when you want.

Food will be served, as well as liquid refreshments, both potent and
soft. There's a pool in the back yard, but it is expected to be quite
cool in early May.

Dress: Dress for the Garden Party can be anything from very casual to
dressy. Swimwear and associated cover-ups are fine. If you want a chance
to wear a dressy daytime outfit, this is it.

Cost: <MEOW!> Feed the kitty!

Parking in the neighborhood is somewhat limited, as this is a
residential area, so please carpool if at all possible.

Night Of The Soiled Doves status:

As many of you know, the special Night Of The Soiled Doves side trip and
happy hour filled up quite rapidly.

For those who may feel disappointed, there are still a number of ways you
could get to go.

The important thing, if you do indeed want to go on this, is to sign up
for it and get on the waiting list. This is very important to do. You do
this when you fill out your activity selections.

1. There will always be some changes and cancellations. Some of you who
saw the "full" sign at sign-up time will indeed show your status as
confirmed when you receive your itinerary with the Large Final Mailing.

2. Likewise, there will always be a few no-shows. Any "tokens" which are
unclaimed by Tuesday morning will be up for grabs and will be given to
those on the waiting list, first come, first served.

Unclaimed tokens, if any, will be distributed to those on the waiting
list at 10:00am PDT Tuesday at the San Remo parking lot, east side of
the main hotel building.

3. Beg-barter-bargain. It's that "token" that guarantees a spot for the
trip. If you can talk a token-holder out of that token, you get to go.

4. There may be some who decide at the last minute not to go, or for
some other reason do not show up at the rendezvous point at the
departure time. If there are empty spaces at the departure time, those
on the waiting list who are present can claim those spaces, first come,
first served.

NSD (and other) questions and answers:

Lots of questions and concerns this week. Many of them had to do with
the NSD side trip.

The most frequently asked question this past week was to the effect of
how can you tell if you made the "cut" for the Night Of The Soiled Doves
side trip?

The general answer is that if the first time you signed up for it, you
did NOT see the full notice, you made the cut.

If you want to check for sure, write in and request an advance copy of
your itinerary. It will show "Confirmed" or "Waiting list" for all
activities you signed up for.

The second most frequently asked question, believe it or not, was to the
effect of how can you *REALLY* be sure your NSD sign-up was properly
recorded?

Best way, again, request an advance copy of your itinerary.

If you think there is an error, send in that number that appeared on the
screen after you made your activity selections. It's very easy to trace
if you send that in. If you don't have the number, yes, we can still go
back through the logs and get a very accurate record of what you signed
up for, when, and what you changed and when, but that number is the
"proof" of mailing, so to speak.

Those confirmed for the NSD side trip can pick up the tokens at any
major DLV activity on Sunday or Monday. Those who are not arriving until
Tuesday should send e-mail to dlv@geekbabe.com and request instructions.

Those on the waiting list can get tokens, if available, while they last,
at the San Remo parking lot at 10:00am on Tuesday of DLV week.

Clarification of the two lunches on Wednesday ...

When I answered this one, I wasn't thinking that the tentative schedule
that appears in the general mailings does not have the locations listed.
Looking at it, it could very well appear to be a mistake.

Sooooo ... to clarify ... there will be two options for lunch on
Wednesday of DLV week, both at 1:00pm. The first is the daily (M-F)
Lunch With (or without) Ginger at the Sahara Buffet. The second is the
Wednesday-only lunch at the Bellagio Buffet.

It's up to everybody to decide which (if any) they want to go to. Both
are no-sign-up-just-show-up activities.

In the Large Final Mailing we will have a list of names of volunteer
drivers and those who need rides. As of this time we have 25 signed up
who need a ride and 45 signed up who are willing to give others a ride,
so there will be far more available seats than there are riders who need
them.

There will be a special note sent out just before DLV which pertains to
those who know they will be needing a ride to the early activities.

brocade color fabric swatches. We are closed now on Sundays unless you
have an appointment.

Deadlines and cutoffs (updated):

Thursday, April 22 is the postmark deadline for prepayment for the Limo
Tour by postal mail. This is only necessary if you will not be arriving
before Wednesday of DLV week.

Tuesday, April 27 is the deadline for payment for golf. See golf list

Wednesday, April 28, 2359 CDT is the deadline for DLV 2004 registration.
This is also the deadline for all activity sign-ups and changes.
(Activity sign-ups and changes made after Sunday, April 26, will not
appear on your final itinerary.)

Monday, May 3, is the deadline to pick up your "token" if you are on the
confirmed list for the Night Of The Soiled Doves side trip. Any tokens
unclaimed on Tuesday morning will be released to the waiting list.

Tuesday, May 4, is the deadline for payment for group seating for
Thursday's "V" show. If you want to sit with the DLV group for this
show, payment must be received no later than Tuesday. Payment may be
