Getting close:

Just 2 weeks 2 go, gang.

There are a lot of very important items in this mailing, please look
this over carefully. This mailing may seem a bit disorganized, sorry,
it's been edited many times over the past few hours due to the recent
happenings and goings-on.

Welcome to those who just registered or joined the list.

There's still time to get in on things, but don't wait any longer. This
is very close to last call.

One very important note. DLV 2006 general registration closes Tuesday
April 11. This includes activity sign-up.

There will be a moratorium for all activity sign-ups, cancellations,
and changes between April 11 and April 17. Please be sure to have your
selections in by April 11. This means that all activity changes after
April 11 will have to be made in person at DLV.

Last-minute walk-in registration may or may not be available this year,
depending on anticipated turnout.

We're now moving to an as-needed mailing schedule for this list. We'll
stick to the usual Sunday mailings if possible, but there may be some
mid-week mailings. Yes, as before, we'll reduce the boilerplate items
in any mid-week mailings.

All DLV correspondence appears to be caught up as of this time. If you
sent in something and did not receive a response, please accept our
apology and resend. E-mail is not perfect, nor are humans. :)

Activity sign-up is now in progress.

Most of you who hold validated registrations for DLV 2006 should have
received their activity sign-up mailings. The only exceptions are for
those who registered after Thursday night, and for those who have yet to
validate their registrations. The next batch will be sent out on Monday
morning.

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT: IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE THIS, SOMETHING IS WRONG
AND WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IT. If you don't receive this (those who
registered or validated since Thursday should get this on Monday) please
write in (dlv@geekbabe.com) and explain the circumstances.

Also, if you have any difficulty signing up for activities, either
technical problems or just if you don't understand something, please
let us know as soon as possible.

We apologize to a few of our registrants who received multiple and
premature notices this past week. The wrong batch was executed multiple
times, sorry.

A few notes about activity sign-up:

1. Activities not listed on the screen are no sign-up, just show up.

2. If you fill out your activity sign-up screen for a second or
subsequent time, you need to specify all activities you wish to do
even though you may have already signed up for them before.

3. If you wish to register as a couple, you don't need to do two
registrations, just one with both names. You may sign up for the same
or different activities if you wish.

Latest numbers: From now on, the numbers we will report are those who
have reconfirmed by making their activity selections.

As of this morning we have 115 reconfirmed, with several activity
sign-ups yet to go.

Here's a summary of what you need to do, based on where you stand in the
registration process. If you have any questions, or if something does

them on Thursday afternoon of DLV week, but makeover appointments will
be available all week long.

Yes, you are most welcome to do just that.

For most of our activities, either boymode or girlmode dress will be

Various activity notes:

The Wedding Ceremony has been moved to a larger chapel, one which will
hold all of our projected crowd. Everybody who has signed up for this
as of this time will get to attend even if you saw the "Waiting List"
note.

As of this time, the Limo Tour and the Night Of The Soiled Doves are the
only activities that are full. See notes below.

If you find out that any activities you are looking forward to are full,
please don't be discouraged. The important thing is to get on the
waiting list. If space is available you will get to do it. Throughout
the history of DLV those who couldn't do something that they wanted to
do because it was full are few and far between.

All Eating Out Night venues still have space, with Milanos and
Bertolini's approaching full.

Things to come:

Large Final Mailing:

On or about Wednesday, April 12 we will send out what we call our Large
Final Mailing to everybody who has registered and has completed the
activity sign-up process.

If you will be leaving home prior to April 12 and won't have access to
e-mail, please request an advance copy of this. You may request a copy
of this anytime from this day forward. The only caveat is that if you
get one in advance, last minute changes and announcements may not appear
on it.

At DLV we strictly limit the number of dead trees that we hand you when
you check in. Most of the information that you'll need will be coming to
you in the Large Final Mailing.

The Large Final Mailing will include:

* Your personalized final activity selections and itinerary.
* Final detailed schedule of DLV activities.
* Very detailed directions to DLV activity locations.
* Link to a map of DLV activity locations.
* Dress notes and dress suggestions for each major activity.
* Contact phone numbers and Big Sister Emergency Hotline number.
* Photography information.
* Various vendor/merchant discounts and promotions.

Also included are various hints and notes such as check-in instructions,
how to find the group at our locations, what to do if you have trouble
finding the group, etc.

You should read this material carefully and print out what you think you
will need. We will not be handing out any printed maps, schedules,
directions, etc.

Hint: Print out the LFM and read it on the plane! :)

What we WON'T have this year:

1. Visual directions. Very few reported that they used them.

2. Activities Hostess. Again, very few took advantage of this last
year. Please be sure to print out your schedules and itineraries
before you leave home, as hardcopies will not be available.

Checking in:

Unlike other events, there is no big central check-in desk at DLV.

Check-in is quick and informal, and may be done at any of the major DLV
activities and many of the smaller ones. Look for activities marked
"Check-in Available" on the final detailed schedule. Don't worry, if the
first thing you want to do doesn't offer check in, you can still do it.
You might have to wait to get your name tag and such.

When you get to your first activity, just look for or ask for the DLV
volunteer who is taking names. He or she will check you in, give you
your name tag, ask if you have any questions, and a few other items.

Again, unlike many other events, the one thing the check-in host or
hostess will NOT do is hand you a big pile of papers and such. We are as
paperless as we can be. There will be no hardcopy maps, schedules, etc.,
handed out. Please print these out in advance. If you arrive without
them, you'll be directed to the nearest Kinko's where you can print them
out. :)

Limo Tour status:

We've tentatively added an 8th vehicle to our Limo Tour fleet, due to
high demand. Everybody who signed up for the Limo Tour prior to
mid-afternoon on Monday got their first choice, subject to payment, of
course. Most of the requested limo mates of the same class tickets were
matched.

Everybody on the following have been cleared and confirmed for the Limo
Tour. Please write in if you think you should be on this list but don't
appear on it (please check both name and registration number).

Now to answer as many of the questions and concerns about the Limo
Tour as I can here ...

Vehicle assignments have not been finalized. Most requested limo mates
will be matched, as well as first choice on class of ticket, but there
may be some late shuffling due to vacancies and waiting lists and such.

Yes you may freely exchange vehicles and seats. When you pay, you will
get a ticket with vehicle and seat number. You can trade, sell, barter,
etc. with these.

The Limo Tour departure point and instructions for meeting up with the
Limo Tour group will appear in the Large Final Mailing, which will go
out in the week prior to DLV.

Night Of The Soiled Doves status:

As some of you may have noticed, the Night Of The Soiled Doves on
Tuesday evening of DLV week is full. Those who sign up for NSD from
this point on will be placed on a waiting list.

If you want to go, don't worry. There will be cancellations and no-shows
and since we did not overbook this activity, vacant spots will be filled
from the waiting list in first-paid-first-served order.

There some other ways you may get to go. Stay tuned for details! :)
