Down to the wire:

Unless unforeseen circumstances come about, this will be the
last general mailing prior to DLV 2009. The Large Final Mailing
will be going out this coming week to all who hold validated
registrations for DLV 2009.

On behalf of the DLV ORG Group I would like to thank everyone
for their participation and cooperation. We're all set for a
well-attended and highly-successful event!

BIG THANKS to all DLV organizers and volunteers! We have a
great team who put together a dynamite schedule of activities!
In particular, we have several first-time volunteers who are
coordinating activities this year. We appreciate the efforts
of all volunteers, new and veteran!

Our predicted total turnout is in the 150-ish range.

Remember that at DLV you will never see the entire group
at any one place at any one time. The two largest gatherings
of our people will most likely be the Welcome Meet And Greet
on Monday, and the Farewell Dinner on Saturday.

We're encouraging as many as possible to join us Wednesday
evening for the Official DLV 2009 Group Photo. Exact time
and location will appear in the Large Final Mailing.

If you're not going to make it:

By now, you should know with close to 100% certainty if you
are or are not going to be coming to Diva Las Vegas.

If you are not going to make it and you are registered,
please give us the courtesy of a cancellation if you have
not cancelled already. This get you off the rolls, allows
us to give more accurate information to our hosts, and
allows others to move up on waiting lists and such.

Heads up to the following:

If your name is on this list, your registration will be
cancelled on Sunday (that's tomorrow) for non-response
to countless requests to reconfirm and sign up for
activities:

of life after several reminders, it's about all we can do.

If you're on this list, to prevent cancellation, please do
one of the following:

1. Sign up for activities. If you don't wish to do any of the
optional activities, just go directly to the bottom and click
on the "Submit" button. This shows that you are alive and
responding. If you did not receive, or misplaced your activity
sign-up mailing, please let us know and we will resend.

2. Send a brief e-mail to dlv@geekbabe.com saying that you
are still alive and still intending to show up at DLV.

E-mail issues:

We've again received reports that some e-mail to DLV has been
returned as undeliverable. This appears to only affect users
whose e-mail is on the msn.com and hotmail.com systems.

Unfortunately we've been unable to get a handle on what is
causing this, and we've been unable to duplicate the problem
in controlled testing.

If e-mail to DLV should bounce, we have a back-up emergency
address that can be used. This is:

We only check this during periods of known e-mail issues, so
routine DLV correspondence should always be addressed to the
main DLV address of: dlv@geekbabe.com

Have you written to DLV and received no response?

pride in prompt and clear responses to all concerns.

As we approach the final days leading up to DLV, concerns
should be brought to our attention sooner, rather than
later.

Deadlines and cutoffs:

This has been updated since the last mailing.

Sunday, May 3 (That's tomorrow!), will be the last batch of
activity sign-up mailings. You must have a validated
registration by Sunday, May 3, at about 8:00am CDT in order
to sign up for many of the optional activities.

Monday, May 4 (Day after tomorrow!) is the deadline for golf
payment. See golf payment information on the activity sign-up
screen or in back mailings.

Monday, May 4 (Day after tomorrow!), at about 11:00pm CDT will
be the cutoff for all on-line activity sign-ups and changes.
After that time, participation in activities which require a
sign-up, if space is available, must be arranged with the
activity coordinators in person during DLV.

Tuesday, May 5, at about 8:00am CDT will be the cutoff for
registration for DLV 2009.

Saturday, May 9, will be the deadline for cancellations for
the Limo Tour.

Beginning Sunday, May 10, we will hold all non-urgent e-mail
sent to DLV until after this year's event.

Monday, May 11 will be the deadline for payment for the
Murder Mystery Dinner Theater. See activity sign-up screen
for payment instructions.

Monday, May 11, 7:00pm PDT. (TIME UPDATED) Those who plan to
pay for the Limo Tour on Tuesday of DLV week must make
arrangements to pay (as in have a definite time agreed upon
to meet one of our volunteers and make payment) prior to this
time. Those on the waiting list may "bump" those unpaid who
have not made arrangements to pay as of this time.

Monday, May 11, 9:00pm PDT will be the deadline for payment
for the English High Tea. See activity sign-up screen for
prepayment info, payment in person may be made at any major
DLV activity prior to or during Monday evening.

Tuesday, May 12, noon, will be the deadline for payment
for Night Of The Soiled Doves. Starting Tuesday afternoon,
those on the waiting list may "bump" those unpaid on the
confirmed list.

Tuesday, May 12, 5:00pm PDT will be the deadline for payment
for the Limo Tour. Those not arriving at DLV prior to this
deadline should make arrangements with someone who will be
present to make payment for them.

If you hold a validated registration for Diva Las Vegas 2009
you will receive our Large Final Mailing either Tuesday or
Wednesday of this coming week.

Please expect this, and please watch for it. Please be sure
there is enough room in your inbox to receive this.

IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE THIS BY WEDNESDAY EVENING AT
THE VERY LATEST, SOMETHING IS WRONG AND WE NEED TO
KNOW ABOUT IT!

This will be sent in several parts, in batches. The parts
may not all appear in your inbox at the same time. The main
part describes what you should receive. If any pieces are
missing, please let us know ASAP.

If you will be leaving home early for DLV, you can request
an advance copy of the Large Final Mailing at any time.

Making contact with the group, checking in:

Please be sure you are counted! Please check in, either at one
of the designated "check-in available" activities, or by
special arrangements.

Unlike most of the other major TG events, DLV does not maintain
a central "headquarters" and does not have a big central check
in desk. You can check in at most major DLV activities. When
you arrive at your first DLV activity, look for either the
check-in hostess or one of our volunteer greeters.

During the first part of the week, check-in will be available
at the following activities:

* Pre-DLV gathering, Sunday. (Not on schedule, read your LFM.)
* Studio Lites Open House, Monday.
* Lunch With Ginger, Monday.
* Happy Hour, Dinner, Welcome Celebration, Monday
* Lunch With Mary Beth, Tuesday
* Lunch With Ginger, Wednesday.
* Happy Hour, Dinner, Wednesday.

This year we will be handing out a printed summary schedule
and activity map. This can serve as a quick reference to
what is happening and where, but please do not think of this
as all you will need to know to make the most of DLV. Please
read the Large Final Mailing carefully.

The final schedule in the Large Final Mailing will have very
complete activity details, with far more information than
appears on the hardcopy handout.

Please see notes in last week's general mailing if you will be
needing a ride to your first activity.

Early birds:

For those of you who will be in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 10
there will be two opportunities to get together with the DLV
group.

The times and locations will be announced in the Large Final
Mailing, sent to all validated DLV attendees.

HEADS-UP: These will not be on the main schedule. Details
appear in the main part of the Large Final Mailing.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have family commitments for Mothers
Day, we ask that you please do NOT reneg on your obligations
to your family in order to attend these informal Pre-DLV
activities!

First is for Sunday services at a local church (Christian,
interdenominational, nonjudgemental) which has welcomed
DLV attendees for many years. Location will appear in the
Large Final Mailing and will be noted on the main DLV
activity map.

As for dress, this is a very casual congregation, so casual
is suggested, but a moderately dressy but not flashy outfit
would be appropriate as well. Boymode or girlmode.

Second is our informal, unofficial Pre-DLV Get-together.
This will be at a local pub, which is mainstream but very
TG-friendly and very "safe" for beginners. Details will be
sent in the Large Final Mailing. Location will be noted on
the main DLV activity map.

As for dress, anything from very casual to dressy, boymode
or girlmode, will be appropriate. No costumes, clubwear, or
slutty/fetish at this activity, please.

Name tags:

If you have a name tag holder from previous years, please
bring it along with you, as tag holders are one of our
major expenses which are often not fully reimbursed.

The tag holders which have been furnished to us this year
are the "clip-on" type, with smooth, non-jagged edges which
should not damage most fabrics.

If you prefer a different type of tag holder, such as a pin-on,
lanyard, or necklace style, please feel free to bring one along
with you. Better yet, bring along a small pack of the tag
holders you prefer, use one, and donate the rest for others.

Rides to early activities:

It has been suggested (thanks, Susan!) that we use the DLV
Discussion Forum to coordinate rides to early activities,
not so early activities, and even such things as sharing of
taxi rides for those without a vehicle.

Therefore, if you will be needing a ride to any of the early
activities and you do not know someone who is driving,
please post a brief note on the Discussion Forum at:

Tour on Friday:

The KEY to getting on the 12:00 cruise is timing.
There have been bus loads every year that I've done the boat
tour @ DLV.
