It's not an autocracy or even a democracy. It's a contract promoting
trust among the members of this group.

As an organizer I have the opportunity to define the dress guidelines
for the event I work on. It's just part of the process. Those
guidelines are in place to define for potential participants what they
can expect. If it is to be successful they need to see that everyone
there is within that range of expectations. If the guidelines suggest
business casual and someone shows up in club wear, they are not only
going against the defined guidelines, but they are violating the trust
each of the others there had placed in the organizer and other
participants.

I don't believe it's unreasonable to expect those that show up for an
event to respect both the design set in place by the organizer, and the
expectations of the remainder of the group. This is an open opportunity
to design an activity in any type of location wearing whatever you want.
Just recognize if you ask me to show up in City Hall at noon wearing a
feather boa and a smile, I probably won't be there. I wouldn't want to
spoil it for you by wearing my business suit. Fair enough?

My 2 cents

Sarah
