accommodations beyond the "recommended?"

I would agree with Diana, and stay at a hotel/casino that is on the
Fremont Street Experience area, and not beyond it. Within the
Fremont Street Experience there are usually very visable security
and cops, either on foot or bikes, or cars to try to keep any problems
from occuring in that area 24x7. They are most visiable when the
crowds disappear during the early morning hrs...

There is also the California and Main Street run by Boyd Corp, that
is just off Fremont, which is ok to walk to and from at night. I've
never had any problems with getting to Fremont from those casinos.
However, both places have daily chartered tours to Hawaii, so it can be booked
full at times. These two are close enough to Fremont.

As far as tg friendly, I'm not sure. Main Street has elevators that
open to a lobby. The Cal opens to the casino, or front desk that is
part of the casino.

One block away from Fremont Experience can make a big difference,
even during the day.
