Hi everyone,

After having to cancel last year, I am SOOOO looing forward to this
year. I'll be staying at the Imperial Palace and I'm wondering about
how safe it will be to walk through the casino and up to my room alone
after some of our late night functions.

I'm also planning on attending church on Sunday; would jeans (with a
fashionably torn knee) be appropriate or should I wear nice pants
instead?

thanks,

Shannon

Hi Shannon,

I am coordinating the church service! We want to make a good impression
on the church people and while it is a casual crowd, I think the nice
pants would be the best choice!

Hugs,

We've had people stay at the IP each and every year since the start of
DLV with no known incidents.

If you will be parking or getting dropped off in the rear, you don't
even have to pass thru the main part of the casino to get to the rear
bank of hotel elevators. They are right between the shops and the casino
entrance. There's even a "secret" tower elevator which is more discreet
and handy to use during busy times. Finding this will be an exercise
for the student. :)

If you're really shy about the casino, the IP has (still has, I think)
some "garden" (motel style) rooms in back. These aren't nearly as nice
as the tower rooms but you can get to them directly thru the parking
garage without going inside the main building.

It's a "denim" crowd at the Las Vegas MCC, or so they say (the
ubiquitous "they"). However, not to show my real age, but I think of
the terms "fashionably" and "torn" as being mutually exclusive. :)

They probably won't say anything to you. However, and I don't know your
age, but you should probably be sure that the "fashionably torn" look is
indeed age-appropriate for you. One far too common faux paus in our
community is trying to get away with outfits that are one generation
removed. I would suggest you consider the "30/130" rule here. :)

Hi Shannon.

Think of why you are going there.

I guess most women who attend church dress to impress and they do look
pretty good sometimes in that setting even though there is no real need
to make a statement.

I get the feeling it would be real nice to just be yourself in a place
where it shouldn't matter what you wear, but I think you would likely
feel on top of the world if you picked an outfit that would be both
ladylike, respectfull and most of all, Comfortable to you.

The DLV ladies really have the nod when it comes to the perfect outfit
for any occasion so take a look at the 2004 DLV archive pics, they
should give you some idea of what the attending DLV'ers wear. I won't
be able to attend the church service again this year unfortunately so
Good luck to you and say a prayer for me!

Huggs Kate.

Me too. DLV is the first of three high points of my year, something to
look forward to while I'm freezing my a$$ off through February and
March.

Having attended every one of these things since 1998, going back through
the web page and looking through previous years really brings back some
memories, some of them good, some great, some really strange, and some,
well, that I don't really remember at all. Suffice it to say that I
have fun, maybe too much fun, at DLV. Let us never forget that it's a
vacation in Vegas, not a convention.
