First time and first question πŸ™ˆ

Postby pikassandrachu » Sat Oct 01, 2022 6:39 am

Hi everyone!
This will be my first time attending DLV and also my first time in Vegas, so I’m v excited for this trip!

I have a question about car rentals while there: will there be issues if I try to pick up a car rental if I’m dressed femme but all of my id is masc?

Semi-related: I was thinking to use said car to visit the valley of fire on Wednesday during the day, would anyone else be interested in going or are there already plans to do something like this?

Thank you!!

I know some people have done this (picked up a rental card where the ID
photo does not match the appearance) but explained the circumstances.

My best guess is that "your mileage may vary" depending on the rental
agency and whoever the agent is.

As for Valley Of Fire, it's too late to get a headcount or a sign-up for
you, but you might just spread the word at the big get-together on Tuesday
evening and you will most likely get some to go with you.

Okayyy that’s not an ideal answer haha

Do you know what the parking situation is like at the flamingo? Could I maybe pick up the car, park it somewhere, then get ready after? πŸ€”

This is current for the major CET properties on the east side of the Strip (Harrah's, Linq, Flamingo) as of last August, when I stayed at one of them.

The good news is that the first hour of parking is always free, timed to the minute, from ticket issued to settlement, with no tolerance.

The bad news is that hotel guest parking for non-rated guests is no longer free. It's $18 per day.

If you are a rated player at any CET property (Las Vegas or other locations) at the Platinum level or higher, parking is free and the player's card acts as the "get out of jail free" card at settlement.

One item that is not well known is that if you are an active US servicemember or a veteran in good standing, you can get a special "Salute" players card which includes all Platinum benefits and a few others. You can apply for this at any Total Rewards desk and you will need legal ID and proof of service. It only takes a few minutes.

Now there are some work-arounds.

The easiest is to simply "borrow" or "find" a valid player's card at the Platinum or higher level. Yes, this is cheating, but it works.

A few of the people at the event I attended found free parking in the area.

The closest is Casino Royale, which is one door north of Harrah's, three doors north of Flamingo. They have a smaller parking garage kind of shoehorned between Harrah's and Venetian. It's tricky to get to, and involves a rat-maze of alleys behind and between Harrah's and Venetian. As of August it was drive right in, drive right out, no validation, no formality.

If you don't mind walking a bit more, parking is free at Venetian, and the garage is easier to find and much larger than that of Casino Royale. This is two doors north of Harrah's and four doors north (about 1/2 mile) of Flamingo.

Have you considered Gold Strike Hot springs instead of Valley of Fire State Park? It's below the Boulder dam and is about a two hour hike. There are four hot spring pools there, and a great view of the Colorado river. If enough are interested, I'd love to take a dip in a my tiniest bikini!

That looks amazing but I feel like the hike might be a bit too intense for me :(
