Star Trek Ride

On the Star Trek Activity, and for anyone interested in going:

There are now two shows, same price of $29.99, at the Las Vegas Hilton

1. The original Klingon Encounter
2. Borg Invasion 4D *NEW*

Cable stations have been advertising the new '4D' show quite a bit.

Does anyone know how long the new '4D' show has been open?

If so, and if anyone seen it, care to comment w/o giving it away?

Since its relatively new, will it be a problem for beginners going to
DLV? as in, will there be lines of people wanting to see it, making it a
bit stressfull for beginners and those not that well in passing? (ie
standing in line, dealing with immature kids-girls-guys/high
school/college age, crowds)

One has to be over 42" to go on these rides, so small kids are out, but
some tall intermediate kids and older would be able.

Do both rides end at the entrance of Quark's Bar?

Indeed yes! The original 'Klingon Encounter' is like that. Quite a bit
of shaking/jerking movement the last time I took the ride, and in
boymode. Never enfemme. Never lost my glasses either. The 'cart' is
more like a box with several rows of seats, but not sure how many per
cart. If I remember correctly, all loose items like purses and packages
are placed in a holding area under the seat so that things don't go
flying around.

Its after a short walking tour of the Next Generation Enterprise Bridge.

Also at the beginning, to simulate being transported, they employ strong
air blowers on everyone in pitch blackness. I'm not sure if its enough
to take a wig off. But it can mess up the styling.

Maybe someone out there who went enfemme can recommend how secure the
femme wear has to be... not very good to see one's wig fly off, and off
the cart into the black abyss, or into the lap of someone next to you,
or have a boob fall out or out of place.

I dont know how the new 4D show is, and maybe there may be special
glasses to wear, like the ones used for the Caesar's Palace Atlantis
Race ride.

The 4D commerical shows that part of the experience is walking/running
in the corridors, from the 'borg' chasing you.

Heh, On a side thought, watching the commercial on TV, the 'borg' doing
the chasing was kinda similiar to how the classic frankenstein walks...
but with the arms down.

coaster cart in it and get shaken around until you need a chiropracter?

Hmmmm, I went on this in 1992 (or was it 1991?) I don't remember having
to put my purse anywhere but in my lap.

I don't remember my hair getting messed up at all. I'm sure I would have
remembered something like that.

I remember the ride did have some good motion to it, but not enough to
cause injury or dislodge anybody's private parts. :) I do remember them
announcing that if you were pregnant or suffered from motion discomfort
then you should not ride.

It was a very fun ride, definitely worth $25 to do it once, but I dunno
if I would do it again just to do it again. The ride did have a very
unexpected ending, which I will not give away, and I spotted a blooper
in the film. :)

Prior to the ride, there's a very extensive exhibit of ST paraphernalia
and memorabilia. I never realized there were that many models of
phasers. :) Although I'm not a hardcore trekkie, I was not at all bored.
The couple I went with was more into it than I was, so I just kinda kept
pace with them.

When we went there, there was no line to speak of except right before
the ride itself, where they would queue up the next so many people for
each session of the ride. IIRC this was in the afternoon of a weekday,
maybe Tuesday.

At the end, you come out by a bar and a gift shop. I bought a video of
"Mirror Mirror", my fave ST episode. :) I also remember a very high
pressure salesdroid creature there pushing some credit card scam or
something.

Yes. Although it is not the worst one I've been on, don't go if you
have a neck or back condition.

Like a diamond, a spinal injury is forever...my mantra these days.

It does shake a bit but the original has been toned down in fact i have
taken the ride with a bad back and didnt hurt it any. I'm looking forward
to the new ride.
