Jeff,
First let me assure you that admirers are really-truly welcome! We've had admirers, both male and female, present at DLV since the very early years and with rare exception the experiences have been positive for all.
> I'll definitly be a bit nervous,
Please be assured that all of the "services" we offer to those who are unsure or nervous are available to you as an admirer as well. We're very much an equal-opportunity group! If you would feel more comfortable meeting one of our volunteers one-on-one before you attend a larger function, let us know, we'll make that happen. If you would feel better with someone going with you to your first activity, let us know.
> On average, how many admirers are in attendance?
We don't ask anyone to self-identify as an admirer when registering, so it's impossible to get an "admirer headcount" in advance of the event. You probably will not be the only one, but historically speaking the admirers present can be counted on one hand. This could be good news to you - less competition.
> The website says that admirers are welcome, do you believe this to be true?
Well, LOL, since I wrote that piece, I must believe it's true.
Seriously, I've been in attendance at DLV for all years and I can't think of any case of an admirer being unwelcome. As long as you act appropriately and don't come on like a Mack Truck, you should be well-accepted.
We're looking forward to having you with us.
