DLV 2008 survey report, part 3, comments

(continued - have to hate that 1024 byte truncation)

DLV is an organized event trying to bring people together for a specific
purpose and IMHO it's perfectly reasonable for the organizers to set
expectations. People are welcome to attend, or to organize their own
events.

.. but to deliberately show up at a DLV event and assert that those
guidelines don't apply to you? I call foul. Was it really just a
coincidence or a deliberate attempt to crash the party?

Kimberly, very well said.

DLV has evolved by dealing with and finding working solutions
with problems it has encountered in the past years. One of the
results are the BDR.

By the survey, there is the LARGER majority of the attending
group of attendees that abide by it, and have a good experience
during DLV because of the BDR. Many have taken it to heart
and are developing their skills to pass in mainstream.

Its designed for the safety of those that attend, and also to protect
the DLV locals in general that still use the venues after DLV.

We don't want to create a situation that will destroy any working
relationships the locals have developed with any venue.

Past DLVs have shown the BDR works. BDR will remain in
enforcement until the organizers decide as a GROUP to change it.

If anyone doesn't like the BDR, forgive me for being blunt here:

Then DONT GO TO DLV! STAY AWAY!

NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO ATTEND!

PERIOD.

A very easy solution for you. Why attend something
you don't want to agree to its ground rules.

DLV is NOT for you.

It has been stated, if you don't follow the BDR, we and those that
attend and abide by the BDR don't want you to attend.

If you don't like the BDR or any of the DLV guidelines, create your
own get together and you do the organizing and dealing with any
problems that arises from those that attend YOUR event!

Leave DLV alone for those that follow the BDR.

Restrooms...

By all means, if one is unsure of one's passing or using the women's
rest rooms. Then primarily use the family or uni-sex rest rooms.

The problem is the number of available family rest rooms. One may need
to use the floor maps or ask to find it, and it may not be a family
restroom at every mens and women's restroom location.

Also, I've only seen only one or two in one location. One has to wait
until the occupant leaves.

So plan your rest room trip in advance of the very last minute.

If one has to go do a number 1 or 2 ... as in "I gotta go now!" feeling,
it cannot wait, you may have to wait, or there may be a 'line' of other
attendees waiting also to use these rest rooms, and no line at the
ladies room. If this happens - you have a situation where you need to
make a fast decision.
