Kiss brand press on nails are very popular in the TG community. They
apply easily, stay put, and remove simply and cleanly. Available in many
health & beauty aisles.

Another method to consider is the way I have found to apply glue on
nails and the concern we all have is removing the nails without harming
our real nails.

I'll let you know I keep my real nails filed smooth and use a clear
coating and quite a few women complement my nails while dealing (for
those who do not know me, I'm a casino dealer). Anyway, having them
filed smooth my nails are thinner than normal.

APPLYING....

I first coat my nails with no less than 3 clear coats, letting each coat
dry COMPLETELY. Now... BEFORE applying the glue to the nail (about one
small drop), I tear a very thin patch of tissue (ensuring two ply tissue
is peeled apart), and use a quarter inch round patch and place it on the
nail where I will apply the glue. The now wet patch on the nail both
secures itself to the nail and there's no chance of the glue going over
the edge(s) of the nail when you turn it over to press on your finger.
Holding it there with a little pressure about 20 or so seconds. VoilC .

REMOVING....

I have found by first coating my real nails with clear coat (remember no
less than 3 coats) protects my real nails from damage when removing the
glued on nail. I do not reuse the nails because I soak in regular nail
remover and then gently prying the nail off. After the nail is off
re-soak and remove any remaining glue or under coats of clear coat.

NOTES:

If too much glue is used, you may find some damage of your real nail, as
we all have experienced.

The patch of tissue also helps in bonding (it eliminates two smooth
surface contacts).

I use for my clear coats "Beauty Secrets Hardener found at Sally Hansen.
The glue is Wonder Bond (brush applicator) also found at Sally Hansen

I hope this helps.

aah, so you are saying Galliano can also be used or has the taste of
nail polish/acrylic nail glue remover? :-)

Then again ethyl alcohol is what we want in a drink - and another name
for ethanol for what cars can drink, and a bit different molecularly but
still a alcohol form related to acetone.

That would be interesting to see if it would actually work. :-) :-)

Thanks everyone for your nail 'tips'.
I enjoyed the feeling of having the gel nails and I was still able to use a keybd & etc.
Removing my contacts was 'tricky'.
My natural nails will heal now that they are cut short.

Was there anything else in my blog that was interesting?.. Victoria Secret Lingerie, fancy fortress of femininity?
Mandalay hotel was the best night out. The dinner at Trevi was excellent, too.

best wishes,
kandi

I think I speak for everyone when I say thanks to checking out all of the various facilities as potential DLV venues. That's something that not many volunteers are willing to do, in particular walking in cold and explaining the nature of our group and such.

About 10 years ago they removed the acetone we used to use for cleaning
because they for it to be a carcinogen (cancer causing substance), of
course this was 100% acetone and most nail polish removers only are at a
5% level. con's : want to chance it, pro's : looks pretty. I have
started using the press on strips, i can scrape them off with the wooden
stick that comes with them or a teaspoon, no remove needed.

If anyone cares to read about it, here is the MSDS for acetone:
