Food for thought-

I hated the Sahara, it's in the middle of nowhere and the NASCAR crowd
can be rough especially for newbies and the food there ??? YUCK

I stayed there for 2 years and last year stayed at the BOARDWALK,, I
LIKED IT ! ( It's right in the heart of the strip and you can go either
way easily on foot and hit the top casinos)

The back portion of the BOARDWALK is a old Holiday Inn, so for you girls
driving there you can park your car and move your luggage right into
your room, no long walks or hassles if you don't like going thru the
casino. (Also, the rates are very reasonable too) Who really spends
alotta time in the room anyway.

The bartenders there treated me PERFECTLY and the morning "Mimosa's" by
noon felt wonderful! Last year 4 of us girls stayed there and had a fun
time. There is something to be said about having a bunch of girls in the
same hotel.

I never rent a car, but find the location of the Boardwalk great to
catch a bus downtown and also a great location to take care of the late
night "munchies" at two all night diners located near the hotel.

I guess ??? What we need to do is for interested girls to rally together
and suggest a decent place that would fulfill our needs in the many ways
that we have chatted about. The Boardwalk is one to consider.

One question.... what is the cost difference? The Sahara may be the
pits, but the price is right.

The Sahara appears to be the most competitive of the major hotels on the
Strip with regard to published black-and-white rates. I paid $42 weekdays
and $79 weekend for DLV 2004. I had originally booked at $49 weekdays,
but the price was lowered and they didn't even question it when I asked
to be rebooked at the lower rate.

I have never had a bad room at the Sahara. The room I had last year at
the Sahara was on par with the newer tower rooms at the Stardust, which
was about 25% higher.

IIRC, both the Imperial Palace and San Remo were about 10% higher and
the Boardwalk was about 20% higher than the Sahara when I checked rates
just prior to booking.

Whatever hotel is selected as the primary recommended hotel, it should
be easily accessible to the monorail and other public transportation for
those of us who don't have or want the responsibility of a car.

The Sahara for whatever fault it may have is accessible to the monorail
(which will surely be running without interruption by next year), the
strip trolley, and public bus system. Plus it's easy to catch a cab and
the various services to the airport seem to be plentiful. It's also
within easy walking distance to convenience, drug, and other stores
including the Glamour Boutique.

What other reasonably priced hotels would be reasonably accessible to
public transportation? The San Remo Hotel probably fits the public
transportation criteria although it's probably not going to be budget
priced in 2005 and it's not quite as convenient since you have to walk a
couple of blocks and cross main thoroughfares to access public
transportation including the monorail at the MGM which is across the
street as I recall.

My rooms at the Sahara, except for the year I almost froze in the older
part of hotel where I couldn't turn off the AC, have been fine and the
help for the most part has been very accepting and friendly. I've
actually had fun knowing certain of the clientele were confused with us!
And while some guests may have their confused faults, there is so much
security we are perfectly safe and that's what counts.
