I'm glad you're kidding here. :)

Well, speaking very freely, I'm aware of a few "encounters" between some
of our people and others that have had their beginnings at the LVL. I
won't elaborate on this, those who were involved can do so if they
are reading this and choose to do so. :) (Hey, it happens!)

None of the stories that I'm aware of, however, are nearly as amusing
or as interesting as the one of Margeth, the ex-con, and the Del Mar. :)

The first time I ever was at the LVL was in December of 1999 when I was
in town on business. I met some of the local ladies at Goodtimes and
they were telling me about this "great new club" that just opened with
a TG theme.

We drove down there and we were given the royal treatment. The owner
explained that they had just opened and were in the process of fixing it
up and such. We got the grand tour, they showed off the kitchen, and
assured us that they would have full food service Real Soon Now, but
definitely in time for DLV 2000. I admit I was impressed at the time.

When DLV 2000 came we had our Pre-DLV there, and they had what was
actually a good bar show. Dancers were enthusiastic and talented, one
even did handsprings out on the floor. It was entertaining. Drinks
were good, but they didn't have food service. They apologized, and
explained that they had pirated somebody from Keys to run the kitchen,
but it didn't work out, and they said they would definitely have food
service Real Soon Now, at least in time for DLV 2001, that is.

We also had our DLV 2000 last night farewell get-together there. I
remember it very distinctly, since it was your (Yvonne's) first night
out into the real world. I think that's as close as we'll get to the LVL
having some real significance to DLV as a whole.

Fast forward to DLV 2001. We had such a good experience there that we
scheduled both our Pre-DLV thing and farewell thing there. The Pre-DLV
thing went well. (Still no food service and no plans to have it Real
Soon Now this time.) They did crank the music and increase the drink
prices at the time the slu^H^H^Hdancers came on, but about that time we
were on our way to Karaoke down at Goodtimes.

For our farewell thing, it was OK for a while, then the slu^H^H^Hdancers
came on and they cranked the volume and the drink prices. One of our
people asked them if they could please turn it down and they refused.
I remember Densie saying to me "This place is a slut farm, let's get
outa here ..." and we split. That's the last time I set foot in there
until 2003.

In follow-up of 2001, we almost unanimously agreed not to use it
again.

I'm sure you heard the story of the supposed Galiano [sic] sour that
was so weak that I actually sobered up.

When we were planning the NSD thing this year, somebody, no named
mentioned {blush ... ducking, running, hiding} wanted to be a smartass
and suggested that the Las Vegas Lounge would be >THE< perfect bar to
hit at the conclusion of a trip to a cat house. >>MISTAKE!<<

It turned out that the CR so totally outclassed the LVL that there was
no comparison. The LVL was a total $#!+hole. More than that, it was a
hot total $#!+hole with poor drink service.

Thats's about it from my point of view. Comments?

Yes, and the new word coined by Annie...fornicatorium. Don't you love
the way it rolls off of the tongue? Kind of a woody-sounding word that
sounds much nicer than sh*thole.

Yecch! Would anybody eat there?

Actually, I don't claim that as original. I picked it up from a guy who
was at the time an English teacher in a rather rough high school (since
closed) in what Ginger might call a "dicey" part of town. He used it to
refer to some motels in that and other "dicey" parts of town, those
parts of town where you can amuse yourself by sipping Galiano with the
local winos while on your daily exercise walk. :)

that would be something to see or at least cause a traffic jam ... :-)

<innocently> Does this story have anything to do with white
tigers and fishnet stockings?

It is sad to see how far the LVL has fallen. I think it's still a fun
place for me individually to pop into for a drink when I'm in town, but
it's no longer the right place for major DLV functions.

Hey Denise!

Found a nice mixed drink ... named after a character from that Sailor
Moon cartoon....

I was wondering what the ingredients were, found it at that bartender
listing online.... ( www.webtender.com/db/drink/4611 ) ... and was
surprised when I saw it contained galliano.

Sailor Venus
---------------------------------
Ingredients:
120 ml White wine
15 ml Galliano
30 ml White rum
20 ml Lemon juice
Ice

Mixing instructions:
Shake and strain to pousse cafe glass. Garnish with a peel of lemon.

Not exactly a harvey wallbanger, but this takes the 'industrial strength
cleaner type edge' off the galliano by drowning it in wine, rum, and
lemon juice.

Maybe this can be a alternate to drinking galliano straight on the next
challenge? :-) :-)

nah.... didn't think so... its gotta be straight shots....
