The Rio

Is anyone staying at the Rio. I have a reservation at Harrah's, but I see a rate right now for a suite that is about the same price totally, including Sunday night. But throughout the week it is only $24 pn. Has anyone stayed there before. I have been in the building but never seen the rooms.

I've stayed at both the Rio and Harrah's within the past year or so.

Both are nice.

At the Rio, they call all of the rooms "suites", but I say that they are just very large hotel rooms. There are no walls or dividers except for the bathroom portion. The rooms at the Rio are much larger than those at Harrah's, but I would put both of them in the same degree of niceness. The rooms in the Masquerade Tower at Rio tend to be a bit nicer than those in the Ipanema Tower.

Big advantage to Harrah's is, as they say, LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. :)

I would not recommend the Rio for DLV unless you are driving a vehicle. They do have a shuttle to the Strip, but it's kind of clumsy. Plan on any ride from the Rio to the main Strip area to take about 1/2 hour during the late afternoon and evening.

I would rate the main buffet at the Rio higher than that at Harrah's.

Rio's casino floor cocktail service beats all other CET properties by light years!

Thanks for the info.

My wife and I stayed at the IP in October and we noticed that the
traffic at Harrahs was intrupted by that construction as well. But you
are right about the location. Is it worth putting up with traffic
problems. During the day I tend to go around the other parts of the
city.

The other advantage is staying in a place with other girls. There is
always a better feel if you knows some of the other Diva's are around.

Hi Jill.
I have stayed at the Rio several times and it was always a nice experience. I have come and gone as Katie and never had a single incident.
The only shortcoming is The buffet lineup is always a mile long and inundated with multitudes of children so if close scrutiny is a problem then avoid the buffet lineup.
As Annie mentioned it is Off the Strip and over the West side of the main highway so a shuttle bus ride or a personal vehicle will be necessary to get to and from an event, The cabs arrive fast and furious though and they are very reasonable to the Paris, Bellaggio or Harrahs area. The suites are quite large and all have a couch and a coffee table and floor to ceiling windows with a nice view of surrounding Vegas. If you wanted to party in the room then you will have plenty of space for it and places to sit besides a bed which is always nice.
Night time at the Rio is quite different too they have a carnival show with dancing girls both overhead and a floor show in the Casino every hour on the hour after 7PM.

Harrahs is the better choice for stepping right into the action but I found that staying at the Rio the parking was much better and egress was far easier too.

Huggers. Katie.
