October - November update:
Once again, I would like to reiterate that plans for DLV 2002 have not
changed and will not change due to the tragic events and the uncertainty
in the months to come.
Although it's far too early to predict any turnouts or headcounts, there
has been a record amount of interest this early in the season. I can see
DLV picking up some people who would have otherwise attended other
events that have been cancelled. There's talk in the newsgroups (as of
this time not officially confirmed) that California Dreaming, which
would have happened a few weeks before DLV, has been cancelled. Many of
the people who would have attended this are within easy driving distance
of DLV, so I think it's safe to say we may be picking up people here.
Otherwise, it's onward and upward. We've confirmed plans for a number of
the big activities, and the schedule is falling into place, as you can
see below.
Pre-registration (for members of this list) for DLV 2002 will begin on
December 1. Details will be announced in the November-December update.

Report from Las Vegas:
We had a nice get-together at Keys last weekend. As you would probably
figure, DLV was discussed quite a bit. There are a lot of things
happening, both in the good news and bad news columns.
First the good news ... :)
1. Glamour Boutique is open and is already doing a good business. There
is a chance, not definite yet, but a good chance, that they will be
willing to bring makeup artist Jamie Austin to the Las Vegas store for
the DLV week! I told them that we could not guarantee any minimum number
of sessions, but that makeovers, both general and instructional, would
definitely be in demand.
They also want to host an "open house" type thing for the DLV people.
Update: I just received word that Hidden Woman, another T* oriented
business will be establishing a Las Vegas shop in the next few months.
Details will be announced as soon as we know more.
Personally, I hope GB and HW will become good clean competitors. There's
more than enough business in the LV market to support both of them, and
having two shops under separate management gives the customers (that's
us, gang) a choice. I can actually envision two shops reinforcing one
another and mutually contributing to the growth of the community.
2. RHPS. A new Las Vegas cast is forming, consisting of KT (the GOOD
Frank), the couple that does Riff/Magenta, and others, including Anthony
from Glamour Boutique. They had hoped to have a theater by H'ween, but
it looks like that will come shortly after.
3. Dinner at Keys on Wednesday is a go. They love us there. :) Thanks to
Leah for making this happen.
4. Dinner on Friday at Carluccio's is also a go. Thanks again to Leah
(in unison "thanks, Leah") for coordinating this.
5. Golf is a go for Friday, and there seemed to be quite an interest at
the table last night. Thanks to Mindy for coordinating this.
6. Freezone has apparently seen the light and it is reported they are no
longer being anal about their facilities.
Now from the bad news department ... :(
1. Las Vegas Fantasy Tours has closed. I stopped over there Saturday in
the afternoon just to say hi, and found them not there. Last night
people confirmed that Robyn is indeed moving to Oregon. We wish Robyn
the best on her ventures.
2. LV Lounge has indeed slipped even more. Rumor (unconfirmed) that the
place may be up for sale. I'm gonna definitely yellow-light this on the
list.
3. Rumor that one of the smaller shops our people have liked may be also
going out of business. This is Pauline's on Eastern. I drove past there
on Sunday and noticed the brightly-colored "Everything Must Go" signs
but this place is closed Sunday and Monday so I did not get to stop by
there and confirm.
Local feedback on this one would be appreciated.
4. Rumor that the Hard Rock Casino has apparently become t-unfriendly. I
dropped by there and gave a go at being conspicuous. Did not see any of
that myself, but these reports come from people whose opinions I trust
and value.
5. Michael Cagle has disappeared. Not seen or heard from for some time.

Mailbag:
>Which hotel do recommend?
Most of our people will probably be staying (again) at either the Imperial
Palace or the Sahara.
