Goodwill to sell designer clothes at upscale Summerlin store
============================================================
By Eli Segall (contact) Thursday, 15 August 2013, 1:16 p.m. Goodwill of
Southern Nevada is going upscale.
The nonprofit used-clothing retailer and job-training organization is
opening a store in Summerlin that will sell designer brands, including
Michael Kors, Ann Taylor, True Religion and Prada.
The 2,800-square-foot Blue Boutique on Charleston Boulevard at Town
Center Drive is slated to open Sept. 6, Goodwill officials said. The
store, modeled after similar Goodwill outlets in Denver, Southern
California and Tacoma, Wash., will feature fashion-forward clothing,
shoes, accessories and household decorative items at a fraction of their
retail value, according to a news release.
Chris Matlock, the group's retail director, said each item will be
handpicked based on its brand name, quality and whether it's trendy,
adding that the store will make high fashion affordable. "We are paying
a lot of attention to the kind of atmosphere we are creating inside the
new boutique, President and CEO Steve Chartrand said."
With new fixtures, upscale displays and flooring, it will bring the
bling to Summerlin. "In fact," he said, "customers may not even realize
they are shopping at Goodwill." Goodwill, with its vast network of
collection stations, is known for selling low-priced hand-me-down
clothes. When it opens, Blue will be its 12th retail store in Southern
Nevada and its first in the affluent Summerlin master-planned community.
