This was all checked in some depth prior to planning the dates of this year's DLV.

Of the three events listed, the only one capable of causing room rate spikes is NAB, which really does not get going until Monday, April 8.

DLVers can expect "normal" room rates during our event and those staying over the following weekend can expect "normal" weekend rates.

We'll circle back and double-check the rate situation when we decide on our suggested hotels in November. (And yes, yes, we're aware that CET properties now charge resort fees.) :(

DLV 2014 dates are final ...

It was just a 'heads-up' on what is going on in town.

True the prices may or
will remain 'normal'. But will the room
and place you want to stay be
still available if you wait too long?
Can it be guarrantted that it will be
'normal'? and wait too long?

Knowing what other factors affecting room
availability, such as what
causes a increase in prices depending on the amount
of people staying in
the city, is good to know, and what to expect when
booking a room with
conventions going on in town is good to know. Its one
reason why
weekend prices are higher than week days.

So it still is up to
the person booking the room how long they want to
wait. At least you know
that there are two conventions during the week
that will bring in several
thousands of people, and a big one starting right
after DLV.

NAB technically
starts on the 5th, and with exhibits opening on the 7th,
I'm sure there will
be exhibitors and staff prepping their areas, and also the two
other smaller
conventions that week finishing on friday, and may take
the room. All of them
have to stay somewhere, and will go out in the
evenings.

Been in town when
the Rodeo was happening. LV was very busy, and
rooms were more higher than
'normal' rates.
