Vendor relations (was Diva Las Vegas 2012 dates ...)

Postby Holly » Sat Oct 01, 2011 8:04 pm

The discussion pertaining to DLV dates for 2012 has made it pretty clear that the March time frame is not the most popular. If the ORG group follows Annie's criteria she is using to vote for a date that has the greatest probability of providing the maximum attendance, the March dates should fall by the wayside.

Here's what bothers me more than anything else...

Yes, all those folks do make-overs and some others you didn't mention. Each and every one of them have their fans and supporters. Amy and Just You/Glamour Boutique has been a supporter and a vendor of DLV for many years. And she can't be here in March because she will be in another part of the country giving that support and service to sisters (and brothers) of our community. Bob, I find it appalling that you can be so cavalier in your dismissal and lack of acknowledgment of the contributions Amy has made not only to DLV, but to our community across the continent. Instead, she's getting the message that all those years she has invested are meaningless. Is that what you really want out there?

Oh, and I'll be the one opening and staffing Just You/Glamour Boutique that week. So I will be part of the collateral damage you seem so willing to embrace as an acceptable loss. Then again, maybe that makes you even happier.

So we're just supposed to dismiss a date because a few of us won't be there. I said nothing about the contributions that Amy or anyone else made for us. YOU DID. This discussion is not about contributions. It's about fairness. How do you know ahead of time who will vote for what dates until it happens. Are you psychic? There will be people that won't vote for the other dates because of commitments. Maybe we should dismiss them too and just have write-in dates, which would also be fair and even more democratic.

It seems that you want to cast dispersions in order to cloud the minds of people not to vote for that date. If you want a debate in a open forum or in person, then I'm all for it, but be prepared, I won't back down when it comes to be fair and just. What you suggest borders on anarchy where the masses don't have their given right to choose for themselves.

Let me make a statement about contributions, seeing how Holly wants to change the subject from the dates to that.

My thought on the subject of contributions is that everybody who attends DLV has made a contribution just by being here.

Really? I thought it was (originally) about the proposed dates for DLV 2012? In any case, it appears that you and I are just going to have to agree to disagree on what is or is not fair. Fair enough?

I don't know and never claimed I did. So now is the discussion about democracy?

Anarchy? Really Bob? I want to thank you for climbing into my head and figuring out what I was trying to say... casting dispersions and clouding minds. And here I have foolishly believed all along that the organizers (all of them) are independent, free thinking individuals, each capable of making up their own minds after having heard all the discussions. I truly wasn't aware they are so easily swayed. Thank-you for setting me straight.

I've said what I've needed to say, Bob, so there will be no more from me on this topic (vendor relations?? fairness?? democracy??). I applaud your passion. Now, how about a cup of tea?
