What would be a good hotel choice for me. I would like to be in one
where several other girls are staying as this is my 1st PF.

Historically, the two most popular hotels for Pinkfest over
the years have been:

1. Red Roof Inn, River North, at the corner of Ontario and St.
Clair. This is a restored older hotel. It ain't the Waldorf
by any means, and the rooms are small, but it's clean and
comfortable. I've stayed there twice, both times for PF.

No free parking for guests! Paid parking available in the
area for rates that are somewhere between extortive and
confiscatory!

2. Days Inn O'Hare West. This is in Elk Grove Village on
Higgins Road. Adjacent to Hunters Dance Club. I've stayed
there, but not for PF. This is your typical suburban motel.
Nothing fancy at all, showing its age, but clean and
comfortable. It will be priced about 1/2 of what RRI River
North is. Plenty of free parking. Free shuttle to O'Hare.
. . . . .

Now, if you want a hotel in River North that has free
parking, the only one there is will be Best Western River
North at Ohio and LaSalle. I've stayed there once for PF.
Again, clean and comfortable, nothing fancy, rooms are a
bit small.
. . .

A compromise between cost and convenience might be the
Holiday Inn O'Hare (nee' Ramada Inn O'Hare Plaza). This
is on Cumberland just south of the Kennedy. Plenty of
free parking but it's a fairly easy walk to the Blue
Line subway/el. You can park&ride the Blue Line if you
don't wanna walk 4 blocks or so. If you want to drive,
the Kennedy is one block north. I've stayed here several
times on business and pleasure, twice for Pinkfest.

This hotel has a checkered history and is known in some
circles as the "OJ Hotel". Google "OJ" and "Ramada O'Hare
Plaza" for the rest of the story. :) :) :)

Hope this helps. :)

I have reservations at the Red Roof Inn and it's somewhat reasonable
even especially reasonable perhaps for Chicago' obscene hotel pricing. I
am arriving on Wednesday and the rates are as follows $152.99 for
Wednesday night and $98.99 each for Thursday, Friday and Saturday
nights.

If you are using Red Roof Inn coupons they now require two coupons for
one night.

I like the Red Roof, because it's well located, but it is several blocks
from a train station and little run down and needing some TLC or did
last fall. I've stayed there for all but one of the years I've been to
PinkFest.

I have been thinking about staying at The Days Inn in Elk Grove Village
only on Wednesday because it is about half of the RRI price that night.
If I do I can get my Hunter's experience in and then move downtown for
the cheaper rates Thursday until Sunday and our other activities. I
stayed there once, but a friend with a car was staying there too and we
carpooled.

The problem is, the only thing it is convenient to is Hunters and
driving into the city and finding parking is not for the faint of heart.

If you are riding the train they will take you to O'Hare and pick you up
until about midnight and you can take the train to and from there.

Considering the travel time it takes, it makes for an early evening for
some gatherings if you are to be back for the last pickup. The Ramada
Inn near O'Hare (by whatever name it is now) is pretty nice, but the
train station is a five minute walk and requires crossing a busy
multi-lane highway which is scary even with the lights.

Hi Ginger,

Looking forward to seeing you at PF this year.

AI can understand your desire to stay next to Hunter's on Wed
given the high price for RRI but you may want to consider that
on Wed nights Hunter's is usually to be kind ... DEAD!

Even during Be-All a couple of weeks ago when I drove past
Hunter's on Wed night (or Tue and Thur nights for that matter)
there were all of two cars in the parking lot.

Since I live 5 min from Hunter's I drive past it a lot on all
different nights and unless it is a Fri or Sat night there are
few cars there.

If you decide to stay in Elk Grove Wed night I will be glad to
give you a ride to the CTA blue line station at Canfield on
Thursday to get downtown and if I am free Wed night I would be
happy to join you at Hunter's (so you won't be alone) but I will
not know for sure if I will be available that particular night
until it is closer to the PF dates.

Hope this helps you to make a decision on what to do that night.

Allison
